Me and my girlfriend recently just stayed overnight on the 6th of December for an anniversary away. We were looking for somewhere a bit off the beaten track with that "Emmerdale" feel. And we weren't disappointed. We were staying for the one night with and having breakfast in the morning. Upon arrival, we were immediately shown to our room, and... More

Pros: This hotel was comfortable and quiet, and offered a good breakfast, even if the coffee was instant. Excellent they provided free WiFi and it actually worked. The staff was excellent, cheerful, smiling and helpful. Cons: awkward, cramped space for laptop and shower had no shelf for shampoo or soap

arrived fairly late on Sunday evening for bar food for 4 people. We were sat in the lounge bar and both food and service were very good. x2 sirloin steaks were amongst the best we have had in ages, whilst haddock and sweet & sour chicken were also very well presented and enjoyable. Not too expensive and definitely value for... More

We stay here when we fish the Tay mid August and find it perfect for accommodation food and friendliness. The rooms I've experienced over the years are perfectly appointed with ensuite facilities and superbly clean. The lounge bar is a great place to relax after a day out or a days fishing and the food choice or quality cannot really... More

We were on a tight budget and booked this hotel as it was near a wedding we were going to. The family room was big and had good facilities. Even had a full size Singer sowing machine in it circa 1920. Breakfast was good and pack lunches were excellent value for money. Staff were really friendly and nothing was too... More

You know, I sometimes read these reviews and wonder exactly what it is people expect, especially from family-run establishments. Recent reviews of the Tayside have been less than generous. This is a small hotel in a small Scottish town, within easy travelling distance of many amazing visitor attractions. Yes, the building is old and has its idiosyncracies. However, I would... More

Very friendly and helpful staff at the Tayside are unfortunately let down by the tired and dilapidated hotel they work in! It reminded me of 'Del Boy's' stay in the 'Villa Bella' in Only Fools and Horses Jolly Boys Outing! The room we stayed in was average and quite cold, the radiator was so old it didn't work anymore. The... More

Dear LeahDawns, Firstly I'd like to thank you for taking time to review the Hotel. I am delighted that you received such fantastic service from our Staff during your stay with us at the Tayside. I am however obviously concerned about your other comments especially as you label the Hotel as being 'dilapidated'. I can honestly say that I have... More

Very poor. Rooms poor. Served raw scampi. Then told by one of the owners there was nothing wrong with the meal! Checking out after one night and will not be returning. I have stayed in most of the hotels on business in and around Perth. This is one of to poorest I have had the misfortune to stay in. My... More

My husband was taking part in the Etape Caledonia cycle in Pitlochry and we booked into the Tayside Hotel for the night before the cycling (as had lots of other cyclists). The staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Even down to them starting breakfast at 5am on the Sunday morning so the cyclists could... More
