Spent 2 fabulous nights (Fri and Sat) at the Dabbling Duck. We received a very warm welcome by the Manager, who showed us to our rooms. WOW! the rooms were wonderfully decorated 40s/50s style with character and charm. We had a complimentary decanter of delicious homemade Rhubarb vodka and a chilled bottle of Prosecco. We drank this with friends who... More

Stayed at this lovely B&B for one night while visiting family in the village. The rooms are small, but very comfortable and well decorated. Lovely location in the middle of the village. Very friendly staff. Breakfast, like dinner, was interesting. I like food and like when a restaurant makes an effort to try something different. Saying that I just didn't... More

We have just returned from a weekend break at the Dabbling Duck with some friends and you could not fault it. The rooms were beatuifully decorated with lovely old furniture, which I just love. There was a lovely bottle of Prosecco in each of our rooms along with some delicious homemade rhubarb vodka, I drank the lot! There's a lovely... More

Our party of six had an excellent Sunday lunch the smoked haddock brulee was certainly very strange like soup we asked the waitress if that's how it should be? After returning from the kitchen we were told no it wasn't right and apologised they offered something else and when we declined removed it from our bill. Handled just right the... More

It's cold outside but not in the Dabbling Duck. A huge wood burner comfy sofa and an equally warm welcome. Really lovely menu all fresh and not the same old stuff that's on everyone else's menu. The smoked haddock and egg starter was lovely as were the vegetable and cider mussels. Drippy chunky chips with home made curry sauce are... More

dabbling good food, dabbling good folk, dabbling good room, dabbling good style...(someone commented on the wall decor and it's true)...and when you go outside at night, you can hear the ducks dabble!

Thoroughly recommend the Dabbling Duck: friendly service, interesting menu and good food at affordable prices. We'd booked a table for four, arranging to meet friends who also brought their six-month-old baby. High chair was swiftly provided when we explained we had an extra guest. And one of the jolly girls serving behind the bar insisted on searching for cucumber ice... More

Just returned from enjoying the very best Sunday pub lunch! Quirky, bare wooden tables, interesting pictures, maps and cartoons. Food outstanding!! Sizeable portions, most unusual but well chosen menu choices and most interesting flavours. Very friendly and efficient staff, I cannot wait to return!

The pub is warm and cosy, popular for its inventive food and good beer - rightly so in our experience. We decided to stay overnight and the rooms were very pleasant indeed. Nice little touches such as a fruit vodka in the room. What really struck me was the young and hard-working staff, who were friendly and helpful, despite being... More

This was my 3rd visit in the last six months, but the 1st for Sunday lunch. The beef and potatoes were perfect. Service was great as was the atmosphere. I really like this place and a wander round the duck pond always makes a great afternoon after food. Can't recommend this place enough.
