Spent two nights here with my elderly father so that we could visit the York Railway Museum and Leeds Armouries. Rooms were large and on the ground floor as requested. Tea & Coffee making facilities and toiletries. Not outstanding but a comfortable stay. We dined in on the first night which was again pleasant. Food was well cooked and nicely... More

Having had our holiday plans change at the last minute we decided on a getaway in the UK and after a bit of Internet searching came upon Hazelwood Castle Hotel near Tadcaster. As with many hotels there were a myriad of deals and offers as well as the obligatory booking site deals to go through, however I called directly with... More

We recently married at Hazlewood. 200 words are not enough to say how good this place is. The staff are caring and attentive, the grounds are lovely and the Castle itself, steeped in history. PERFECT.

I love this charming hotel! We had a fabulous room with a comfy big bed and plenty of space. The character wins me over with the wide open space around the hotel that's nice for a stroll. The vavasour restaurant served a wonderful 3 course dinner and breakfast. We had a peaceful nightcap in the cellar bar. Staff are always... More

Thank you for your comments from your last visit - it is about time you visited us again! No need to be in the bar at the moment - the summer nights are lovely on the terrace. See you soon Best wishes Melissa Watson More

The grounds are spectacular, the building is beautiful. Check in was quick and effortless,we were shown to our Suite which was lovely. We booked in for dinner, and although the bar area is uninspiring the service is good. The restaurant is also not in keeping with the building but the food and service again was exceptional. After a good nights sleep and a very... My wife and I were in a wedding party, and thought everything done by the hotel for the reception after the wedding was first class. The driveway and grounds surrounding the old buildings are beautifully kept, with tidy lawns, ponds, and several sitting areas. The castle building itself is full of character......windows might squeak and stairs might creak, but we would... More

Stayed at Hazelwood Castle for a romantic weekend away, from the minute you leave the A64 you are happily suprised from the almost 1 mile long private driveway through scenic woodland which opens up to the spectacular view of the castle and Yorkshire countryside. The entrance which is around the rear is like something from medival times with massive oak... More

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and the surroundings of the hotel. I appreciate that the bar is small in the original cellars of the main castle, but it is unique in the fact there is an altar, metal bars as if it was a holding room. However we have a number of public areas and the outside... More

I thought hard about whether to write this review but it was such a disappointing visit I felt it necessary. We spent 1 night in the elderflower room. There was a dead fly in the towel, the toilet wouldn't flush without a Herculean effort, the paint was chipped everywhere, and the ceiling and carpets were stained. It just felt dirty.... More

This was our second visit to this wonderful place, as before we were welcomed into a little bit of English history with beautiful gardens a stream running through with a fountain in the middle ,the approach up to the castle was beautiful with all the bluebells open in the woodlands it looked like something from a artist painting.. Our room... More
