My planned short visit here turned into an extended stay! The people are amazing, from the staff, to the owners, to the gold miners at the bar. It's a great escape: roaring fires, cushy couches, history, Scotch, and great food. At the bar, Kevin was great fun, even though he's a Canadian;) During my stay, the food was absolutely gorgeous!... We have been enjoying the hospitality at this establishment for over 20 years and it never fails to impress. The remote peaceful country location provides an opportunity for a restful breakaway. The immaculately presented rooms are very comfortable and the menu & wine list delivers to expectation. Thank you to Angela and her team for another great break. We will... More

Staying in this rustic old coaching inn (circa1862) is a real adventure and retreat from modern day hassles. We had the warmest welcome from Angela and her lovely team of young enthusiastic staff. Our room was compact with ensuite and spotlessly clean. The staff were very keen to make sure we had everything to make our stay enjoyable. Despite being... More

Had a one night stay here while 'doing' the otago rail trail. Staff were delightful , meal was well presented and bed was clean and cosy. Would visit again for a little respite from the noisy commercial city and touristy locations. The fire, lounge and peaceful ambience was so relaxing.

The double en-suite room was lovely and quaint. It was very clean, the sheets smelled fresh and the chocolates on the bed were a nice touch. I had a great night sleep! The area is picturesque and the massive fire in the lounge was amazing to sit by. The issue I had was the food. We thought we would have... More

This was a surprise stopover for us as our friend had arranged it. If you're looking for history, peace and quiet and to get away from the rat race, this is perfect. The managers were so friendly - hope you enjoyed the bag of cherries we left for you! The rooms are quaint but in keeping with the age of... More

This place is a must visit, the property is very special plus the hosts were divine, letting us do our own thing and keeping the kitchen open for however long we wanted. Very kind of them. We were a group from akl doing the rail trail the next day and the hospitality at this place was second to none, the... More

21 friends booked in to spend a special weekend, what a special place. An old fashioned coaching hotel, very traditional and sympathetically maintained and not spoiled. The Owners and staff have gone out of their way to make our stay fantastic, great food and adequate rooms that are functional but not luxurious. We all had great time. five stars for the... More

A pleasant find on a day trip out on the motorcycle. Nicely set beside the road just as they were in the old days. Had a nice toasted sandwich with a coke. A pleasant conversation with the landlady about cemeteries of all things. Checked out the rooms while there. Comfy beds with quaint en suites. Think we will come back... More
