* I'm no food snob, if I pay a tenner for a dish then I want it to be worth a tenner & I generally only write tripadvisor reviews for culinary brilliance or dining disasters. My bet is the chef hates life & the management are in the wrong game. Scampi peas & chips, £9.90 ish. Mackerel salad £9.90 ish.... More

We don't have a dog, so we didn't take it, but we wouldn't take a flea there. Didn't see a rat but they'd probably already shipped out to somewhere more salubrious. Judging by appearances, the room hadn't been decorated since Pitt was PM and the only thing magic about the carpet was that it was still held together - by... More

We visited this restaurant by chance on our first night holidaying in Dorset. The pub has a very welcoming and homely feel and the staff were all friendly. The food was of a good standard. This pub is also dog friendly. We would definitely recommend this pub to anyone visiting Dorset.

Great breakfast, got there too late to sample evening food. Unbelievably friendly to dogs, Arnie even got his own sausage at breakfast. Everyone really friendly cant wait to go back and sample more of the 50 ciders on offer. http://todaretodare.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/gary-arnies-69k-trek-day-3.html

Perfect 6 days holiday for us excellent location and value for money. Stayed in the adjoining coach house small but quite comfortable and cosy. Breakfast was good with of course doggy sausage for Wilson. Only ate there the first night the wife's steak was excellent. We like to explore different restaurants on a night and there was plenty to choose... More

I think some of the negative reviews on here are a bit over the top. We only booked one night here as one of our dogs can be reactive to noise and we weren't sure how she would handle it. Yes the carpets are worn and its dated but what do you expect in an old dog friendly building? This... More

this used to be a lovely stop off for good homemade food. Why they have to serve half baked baguettes when could easily have freshly made bread delivered daily!! Don't ask for anything that's not on the menu as don't cater for anything that's isn't!! Wanted a cheese and onion sandwich and was told no only baguettes and no onion... More

Me and my husband wanted to go away and take our puppy with us. We came across this place on the internet and it said it was dog friendly so we promptly booked it. Afterwards I looked at tripadvisor and saw all the negative reviews so I was a little worried. However there was no need. Everyone is going on... More

We had driven past this pub on our way to our rental cottage in Lulworth Cove and decided to try it our one evening. Big mistake - or perhaps the bigger one was that we had not checked it out first on Trip Advisor. The selection of ciders was fantastic and we really liked the idea of being able to... More

Walked up from the lovely pub where I was staying (lulworth cove inn) and found the nice looking (from the outside) castle inn. Upon entering was greeted by the most awful smell ,followed by the sight of a 50 year old manky carpet. It was 11.40 and the pub wasn't actually open but the lady was kind enough to take... More
