We visited this hotel last weekend and we took our two greyhounds with us. The staff were really welcoming and attentive to both us and our dogs! The food was lovely and really good value for money. The rooms although bit tired where very clean and just what we were looking for with our hounds! Breakfast was huge! And the... More

I really think it depends on what you are looking for if you go away for a weekend. If you are looking to be totally spoilt and only want luxury probably not the place for you. However, if you want to stay in a lovely old inn, with friendly staff, great breakfasts, close to the coast and the most dog... More

Although we had read many reviews, when we booked the hotel for a long weekend stay, we did have 2 dogs that were going to be with us, and must admit, going in December we though it may have been a cold and not a very nice room. Unfortunately one of our dogs departed, 4 days before we were going,... More

I Stayed at The Castle Inn recently and didn't expect luxury, but.... I paid £380 for 2 nights x 2rooms.What a disappointment ! I have 2 dogs & have stayed with them in various places, never has anywhere been as bad.The rooms are full of unnecessary tat that is outdated, they have uncomfortable beds, rubbish showers/baths and are not even... Staff extremely friendly and helpful cosy accommodation and good food with a variety of lovely ciders which made a refreshing change from wine. Ideal break with our dog with good walks for her. Will go again

We picked this hotel as we were with our 2 dogs for a weekend away, and this Hotel accepts dogs. You will see from other reviews that the hotel needs a bit of refurbishment - the room was clean, but did really need some work on investment. The Bathroom was very old, The Shower we both decided not to use....... More

I am sorry to say that I would agree with the previous view of the inn and sad to see that nothing has changed in a year! We stayed this time last year and were so appalled we couldn't bring ourselves to write at the time. The rooms are outdated; no showers, old camberwick bedspreads that contained animal hairs, dirty... More

So disappointed. This place desperately needs refurbishment. Paid £95 for one night and this was vastly overpriced. Just because dogs are welcome does not mean people should put up with tatty, dirty unattractive and charmless accommodation. Poor shower pressure, dirty shower, sink and taps that can't have been changed for 20 years, bed like a rock, pillows like stone, only... More

Like a chocolate box the picture is pretty but the chocolates are stale and mouldy. Allowing that the place is 16th century, that it allows dogs into the accomadation, allowing all that, there is absolutely no excuse for the dirty condition of the room and the breakfast utensils. Pros: pretty as a picture outside, nice garden, nice looking bar rooms... More

We booked 2 rooms (travelled with friends) for 2 nights, decided on this place as dog friendly and we have a small dog. Well, not quite sure what to say. We arrived and nobody even said hello, we had to find a member of staff and ask if we could check in. Set the tone for the weekend, rudest staff... More
