We stayed here at the Inn for two nights but originally asked for three. Thank God we left when we did. Absolutely not good value, needs a complete facelift I would imagine in all the rooms and as previously said the towers were in a shocking state. Also in need of a really good deep clean everywhere. The menus seemed... More

A quaint and homely 16th century pub/hotel - and, just as we expected, warm, friendly, with good standard pub-grub! If you are expecting 'posh', elaborate decor and cultured rooms, then the Castle Inn is not for you! If you don't like dogs, then it is a stay best avoided! And if you want peace and quiet, in insulated rooms, then... More

Stayed here a week ago. I've seen shocking B&B's on TV, but this place was disgusting. The room was absolutely filthy, bed full of hairs both dog and human, threadbare sheets, the brown stained worn out pillow liners needed pillow liners, filed of dead skin on sheet next to headboard, dirty worn out towels (c'mon, they're £1.50 from Asda or... -Hairs in the bed -Unhappy staff -Poor service -mediocre food -Unhygienic and unclean - Great if you have a dog obsession (and i like dogs but its too much) Booked a room here for a quick getaway, we arrived fairly late so only had a quick look at the room ( quite an out dated looking room) before going downstairs... My other half and I stayed at The Castle Inn a couple of weeks ago for 2 nights and had a lovely time. MASSIVE selection of, mostly still, ciders. Very good food if a tiny bit pricey (tourist prices) but generous portions and a good range, and good breakfasts. The pub bills itself unashamedly as dog friendly, and it truly... More

went for a meal 2 nights ago. Walked to find that the bar had 5 customers and 4 large dogs in this small room, 3 of the dogs were sat on the seats intended for customers. Great ! not a good advert for hygiene standards. Decided not to eat there for obvious reasons

This doggy experience was not a positive one, way overpriced with no single occupancy discount, poor standard of room. Not what I was expecting from the look of the pictures and would not recommend to any of my friends

The meals were nice to good but the chip oil does need changing tasted old, great service and all in all a decent meal, sat outside due to the nice weather and yes you... More

And everything else is great too. There is a lovely garden at the back of the pub. Food was great. There was a cider festival on so we were spoilt for choices. Luckily they offer one third of a pint tasters as well! Beer selection was also very good. Our dogs received treats as well. Service was good too. Will... More

reading some of the reviews it is clear that people need to manage their own expectations. The two big sales points for the Castle are the range of excellent ciders and the welcome given to dogs and their owners. With such a focus on welcoming dogs it would be extremely difficult to keep the place pristine. We found the staff... More
