Myself and my partner have stayed here twice; once in 2013 and in September 2014. Apologies the review is a little late! The first room we had in 2013 was lovely but we chose to upgrade to a room with a fridge and stove so we could make lunches and dinner occasionally in September 2014. Hotel is lovely and quiet... I am pleased you're looking at the Laxnes, you may well want to book after reading this. Reason for our booking was to celebrate my wife's significant birthday. Booked into the Laxnes to increase our chances of spotting the Northern Lights during our stay. On occasion previous TA reviews folk had reported seeing the NLs directly over the hotel. As... More

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in November and had a lovely time. The rooms are very spacious and even though it was pretty nippy outside, the rooms were well heated. The views over the snow capped mountains were stunning. Breakfast was good too. There's a supermarket just over the road and going into Reykjavik only takes 15... More

I was a solo traveller and stayed here for one week! Even though the hotel is mostly occupied by couples/families I didn't feel out of place here because the staff (especially Shaun!) were very friendly, chatty, arranged all of my trips and gave me advice on good walks/where to eat etc. The bus stop into Reykjavik is right outside the... This place is perfect to use as a base. It is quiet and warm with amazing views of the mountains to the rear. We arrived and were shown to our room which was on the ground floor and in the far rear corner. The room was spacious enough and very warm. Constant hot wanted from the shower aswel. This hotel... Stayed at this lovely hotel for 5days in October and was really impressed. It's rustic and charming and our room was spotless, comfortable and had gorgeous views of the snowy mountains. It's an easy bus ride into Reykjavik and very cheap. There are several options for eating within a few minutes walk and 2 supermarkets. The staff are extremely friendly... More

Perfect location with views one side of the hotel of snow capped mountains and the other, close enough to walk to the local supermarkets and take aways! Short bus ride into Reykjavik. We stayed in a studio room with our children and we definately recommend rooms over looking the mountains! We saw the northern lights four nights out of seven!!... More

Staff courtesy and attention to our needs made this stay a very positive memory for us. Value was good and the breakfast was great. The location offers excellent access to the main road and fuel and is easy to locate. You are just out side of Reykjavik with a view of the mountains. Hotel Laxnes was a very special highlight... Pleasant little hotel that has a bar, pool room and sweet little bedrooms! Cosy and homely, very warm and clean. If you prefer a more rustic experience, this place would be right up your street. Not too far from Reykjavik (we ventured there on a public bus, which was so much cheaper than taxis!) The staff are very friendly and... More
