We stayed here for 3 nights in November and really enjoyed our stay here. The roof top terrace gives you amazing views of the rice terraces below, very convenient for staggering out of bed to watch the sunrise. The rooms are basic, but nice enough. The bed was comfortable with nice thick blankets and an electric blanket to keep you... More

Jacky's guesthouse lives up to it's reputation. The location is indeed at the edge of the rice terraces and (at least at this time of the year) quite easy to reach. Just be sure to know where to go before you arrive in the village. The rooms are clean and spacious and you have access to the rooftop from where... More

This review is a bit late. My fiance and I stayed at Jacky's back in January 2014. At the time I had to email (jackyguesthouse@gmail.com) /call Jacky directly to book. The guesthouse is somewhat hard to find but Jacky arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the Xin Jie bus station for 100rmb. The road does not go... More

The best place i've stayed in china during 1 month of traveling. Jacky is extremely helpful person with perfect english! The whole family - he, his wife and mother are so friendly! The room was basic, clean. The view from terrace is stunning! Highly recommend and hope to return here sometime!

The location was a little bit of walk in from the main road. However this was an interesting lodging as they had the best locational access to the rice fields. It was a super spot for sunrise photography on the roof deck. In the afternoon, one can walk down into the rice fields and observe the villagers out and about.... More

Located right above the rice fields, the position could not be any better, the sight is absolutely top. The room (double with twin beds) was fairly big. The bathroom, excellent. We only had the problem that Jacky himself was absent, so nobody would understand us. But mom was running the guesthouse as good as possible. The food, and this totally... More

Stayed here for 2 nights recently and had an amazing time. Rooms are large clean comfortable and basic but the staff and view from the roof make Jacky's an absolute must - you definitely don't want to stay where the bus drops you! Jacky's Mumma and himself smash out the food at a regular pace - which is really good... More

We will long remember Jacky's Guesthouse, not only for the superb location, but also for the great food cooked personally by Jacky and his mother, and for the kindness shown by everyone. We were not backpacking and had a heavy suitcase, but Jacky helped us all the way back up to the car stand, humping our case on his shoulder... More

Yuanyang is one of the most interesting places we have visited in China, the rice terraces are absolutely fascinating and it is interesting to get a glimpse of local, ethnic minority life in southern China. If you are able to endure the 8-9 bus ride from Kunming to Yuanyang (sleeper bus) then I would highly recommend this trip, however expect... More

Location: The village is pretty dirty (including the pond just in front of the guesthouse). You have to walk quite a bit through the village to reach the guesthouse. No car access. So avoid heavy bags (there is a steep climb going back). No heating in the room, when temperatures go very low at night in December. No hot water... More

We just can say that you made a wrong choice to come to Yuanyang. We suggest that next time you should only go to big, modern cities, like Beijing, Shanghai, or Paris... Otherwise you will be always suffered. You checked in in the morning, put your luggage in the room, used the bathroom, made the room messy... Then you came... More
