Normal place, not specially comf beds and REALLY cold in winter, they have some eletric blankets but better turn them on few hours before. Furthermore, at night we hadn't hot water, just in the mornings and we had to wait some time for it. Regular customer service, nor bad neither specially good. If I have to go back again, I... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Sunny Guesthouse and would go back again and again. The food was excellent, try the mi xian, all their ingredients are prepared fresh from their garden. The location is great for seeing the sunrise over the rice terraces though when I was there it was misty, adding a great mysterious aura to the atmosphere.... More

After 20 years living and working in China i consider myself a seasoned and demanding traveler. If i want 5 star comfort i go to 5 star hotels. If i want 3 star michelin food i go to 3 star michelin restaurants. When i travel to remote areas to gaze upon what i consider some of the most beautify wonders... More

My girlfriend and I decided to go to the rice terraces in the last minute and were trying to find hostels in the area for the 31st December. We called ahead (using lonely planet as our guide) and luckily Sunny's had a room available for us. They told us a reasonable rate on the phone. Additionally, we asked them to... More

My husband and I paid ahead to reserve our stay, and we most definitely regretted tying ourselves to this guesthouse. Our theory is that since this was the original hostel to get listed in Lonely Planet, that recognition alone has kept them afloat and they've quit trying. RESERVATIONS: When we called the day of arrival to confirm a pickup from... More

This guesthouse is a simple one with a good view especially for the sunrise. A few of their rooms are facing the field with glass window and there is a rooftop where you can enjoy the cool air and counting the stars. However, at RMB180 for a room with very basic amenities - we considered that it's overpriced compared to... More

Y100 for double room, Y35 for dorm. Serves Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (and beer)at set times which was very tasty n decent value. Wifi. Staff very friendly but little English. On reaching the hillside town of Xinjie, take a 20min (Y20) minibus/taxi ride to Duoyishu. Walk down the path and through the folk village to the entrance to hostel &... More

We took one of the newer proper bedrooms upstairs. The rooms are like a higher-end farmer's house (nongjiayuan) but priced like a mid-range hotel. They do have (more or less) hot water and a western toilet, and they're clean but basic. What you're paying for is a gorgeous view from the large window and a chance to spend the night... More

I'm really surprised after reading other reviews of this guesthouse. People, you are in rural China! If you want a luxurious place where English is spoken, stay in Beijing. Auntie is a very sweet woman who made us feel more than welcome. She took excellent care of us and was always happy to do so. The guesthouse was full of travelers... More

I have never expected of 5-star service from a guest house. But the people running the guest house were extremely rude and unfriendly. The place was filthy and rundown. It was a walking distance to the viewpoint of Duoyishu but was very remote from other tourist attractions. It was also overpriced in particular during the peak season. This might be... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sunny Guest House is the first guest house here, since 2005. This is still a poor, original and traditional village, but you can see the real true and special life, market and different minority people. You will find it is untouched by the industrialization. We are located in the middle of Village rice fields, where is the best place to see sunrise and terraces. Our guest house is country simple and environment protection, we do not want to destroy this beautiful place. At the same time we try our best to help, develop and improve the local people life until now.And recently we enlarge our place, building garden for our chicken, duck, cat and dog to live better, also for you. You see, we have a big family. We have free WIFI, heating blankets, 24 hours hot water and our restaurant. We are expecting your visit, to enjoy the beautiful place with us. ... more   less
