We drove from Coyhaique to Mallin Colorado, a drive with spectacular and ever changing scenery. The Maalin Colorado overlooks from an elevation Lago General Carrera, a huge lake that is a deep blue, fed by glacier water. There is excellent trout fishing in the lake and adjacent lakes. The lodge at Mallin Ecolodge is lovely, isolated wooden cabins, delightful inside... More

Dear Ed, thanks for your comment, in general I see you have had a nice stay in Mallin Colorado with some details that could have been better. Regarding the fact you describe that the Manager put two people in a bigger cabin than yours,I can clearly explain that the following way: We have one cabin for two, one cabin for... More

Not sure about all the cabins but ours was fabulous. Double bed on a platform with sofa and easy chair looking out over beautiful lake view. Also table and chairs and coffee making facilities and a wood burning stove. Very comfortable and peaceful place from which to explore Aysen Manager and general helper spoke very good English and were very... More

Great location but wished we had had two cabins for four adults. Little privacy as twin beds in open plan lounge area and separate double room. Our cases were on the floor in dining area limiting floor space as there were no wardrobes. Empty fridge. Felt cramped and only suitable in our opinion for 2 adults and 2 children. We... More

The cabanas are located on a cliff and the view to the lake is amazing. Our cabana had one matrimonial bedroom with bathroom intuit, and 2 twin rooms with 2!!! Bathrooms. Also a very well equipped kitchen and huge window to the lake and a fireside. So peaceful!! We had dinner at the restaurant which was good but expensive, and... More

We stayed four nights in a beautiful cabin here last week. We flew into Balmaceda airport, rented a truck, and drove about 4 hours to reach the property. We were initially concerned about getting lost on the way, but there's only one highway and it leads right to the lodge. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room... More

We were booked into this lodge for proximity to Marble Caves. Even w/o that draw, it is worth a stay for the incredible scenery and the comfort of this lodge. Our cabin had 2 bedroom areas, 2 baths, a living room area with panoramic views of the lake. Very cozy although you did have to use the wood stove for... More

I actually travelled in March, 2013. Mallín Colorado Ecolodge provided me one of the best holidays ever. It is located next to Carretera Austral, which allows you to take the road immediately and go wherever you want. Due to its location, the temperature is expected to be pretty low, but this fact is perfectly faced by the salamander installed in... More

My wife and I stayed here for four nights in November (honeymoon suite) and found it to be an incredible experience. We flew to Balmaceda and rented a car for the drive down to Mallin Ecolodge. The drive was about five hours and had plenty of wonderful scenery (and plenty of pothole laced rough dirt roads). We arrived in the... More

Mallin Colorado is situated close to the junction of the Carretera Austral with the thrilling lakeshore road to Chile Chico; given distances and low speeds in this remote part of the world, this makes it either an excellent overnight stop, or a base for 2-hour or so drives in the vicinity (the obvious alternatives within 15 mins are Hacienda Tres... We stayed there for four nights from November 20th-24th, 2012. After our plane got delayed leaving Santiago, we missed the connecting flight to Balmaceda for Puerto Montt and ended up arriving in Balmaceda 5 hours later than expected. The five hour drive was ahead of us and even though we could not enjoy the views that much because it was... More
