Nightmare comes true! Full of insects and mosquitoes. No hot showers available and the the bathroom was flooded easily during showers. Service wasn't that great. Couldn't sleep the whole night as it was too warm (faulty fan) and full of insect bites. Bed smelt bad, no blankets provided. Seafood dinner was expensive, yet of poor quality. It might have only... We stayed there for a week at new Amarasinghe Guest House which is close to the beach. First we book at the old Amarasinghe Guest House but its very far and the room was not really ok for us. then we change to new Amarasinghe Guest House. the stuff was nice. the food was great!! and just 1500 rupees per... We stayed here for three nights at the end of March. The obvious selling point is the beautiful garden here - pretty amazing actually. If you're into birds it'll blow your mind, with more to see in the gardens and fields nearby. The rooms are basic but comfortable enough and very good value (even by Sri Lankan standards), including mosquito... More

Amarasinghe Guest House is an excellent place to say. It is very well run but kind staff. There are a range of rooms to suit your needs and price bracket. My girlfriend and I stayed in a clean, spacious but fairly basic one to save money. The room was good value for the area and season. The food is excellent.... More

we liked to wake up by the sound of many chirping birds, even peacocks. The garden with many different plants was delightful. Banana pancakes for breakfast were very good. We enjoyed taking short strolls in the surroundings, and the 10 min walk to the beach along a dirty canal, was also enjoyable. The room was huge, but the pillows were... More

Our family stayed for 11 nights in January at the Amarasinghe Royal Lodge. It is closer to the beach then the guesthouse, and has convenient stores nearby. It was clean and basic, with fans, no hot water, free wi-fi, quiet, and a good price for our family. The food that Madu cooks in her little open air restaurant was the... More

We stayed at amarasinghes new place, which overlooked the beach and was a great place to spend a week of our stay in sri lanka. Very clean and well presented rooms with hot and cold water.

The garden is nice and the food is probably good by South Coast standards, but the waterways behind Mirissa beach are very polluted and so staying back from the beach means lots of mosquitos. The owners have an empire in Mirissa - they own at least three guesthouses and also were offering people rooms in their relatives' houses. The room... More

Found the owner quite rude and greedy as he renaged on the price of our room. This was by the tennis court. Was dirty, toilet had not been cleaned they definitely have a problem with the toilet as woke to the smell of urine while still in bed. The food was good and the location.lovely we stayed as recomended by... More

My son and I very much enjoyed our 3-day stay here. It is a little rough around the edges, but it is delightfully old style. Nice grounds and gardens, birds singing. Quiet but an easy walk from the strip of road that is Mirissa. Mrs. Amarasinghe is an excellent cook, and her family and staff were very friendly and helpful.... More
