The room was certainly spacious but smelt musty, and the walls badly needed a coat of paint. The toilet was ensuite, but in a sort of antechamber behind the main room. As a result, the airconditionning could not reach it, so showering in it was like being in a sauna in the May heat. And surprisingly for Sri Lanka for... More

I didn't stay here only came in a few times to eat. The food was the best in Mirissa but the service so slow and unprofessional. So take a good book with you and plenty of humour. I really enjoyed the cookery class, but regretted not having taken notes as the recepies arrived 2 months later in my mail box... More

Pros It is close to the beach Cons Room was cleanish but full of ants. Wi-fi was advertised but didn't work anywhere in the hostel. Mosquito net was full of holes. Room was too hot even with fan running on full. Staff didn't seem to care...we asked for breakfast one day and they just left us sitting there. They have... More

The owner's curries were amazing and so cheap. Place had free wifi and we could use their laptop as well. Helpful people. Only drawback was the room was so hot, even with the ceiling fan running. Room was clean, although the bathroom could be redecorated,

We moved from another guesthouse in Mirissa after discovering the owner ripped us off to the fullest. We were so glad to be here at Amarasinghe's Royal Lodge. Here, we felt totally at ease. The room was relatively clean and the bed was so comfy. The bathroom was equipped with hot water and the pressure was strong. Everybody was so... More

Clean room for 2500 rupi. Good food also for a good price. Nice herb garden. Friendly staff. Small library. no noise because it's 5 min walking from the beach. Just perfect, we stayed for 3 nights. Ps: Next door we bought very cheap spices in a non touristic place.

I stayed here for 4 nights in February 2014. The hotel is in a quiet location. set back from the beach and the attendant noise, but only 5 or so mins walk away along a footpath. The rooms here seem quite varied - I stayed in room 15 for 2 nights which had aircon and was reasonably modern, but the... More

My wife and I went to this place for lunch. The garden in the middle is nice and the place was full of tourists. We sat down and after a couple of minutes we received the menu, not a "hello" or anything else, but at least one menu. Then, we waited for 35 minutes to order our food!; the sun... More

This is a bit overdue but was looking at pictures of my trip and it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling again. This is such an awesome place to stay, clean, beautifully finished, close to everything and you can't beat the price for hot water and AC. You pay double on the beach. I booked a whale watching trip with... More
