Presently run by the royal family, this castle has large airy rooms with arched pillars and intricate paintings on the walls. Some rooms are better than others but all have been furnished for a comfortable stay. The meals are cooked under the personal supervision of the family members.

I can not recommend staying here highly enough! The fort is beautiful, so old and interesting, great to walk around and see the original features. They have done such a great job of converting it into a hotel but keeping the character. We stayed here in our last week of backpacking and this was a treat, more expensive but totally... More

Simply one the most extraordinary places we stayed in in twenty years of traveling. There is of course the whole place and its atmosphere. There is the incomparable hospitality of the owners. And the superb food. Plus: we had the luck to get the Maharadjan room - well, suite - nr 1, as we were there all alone, just in... More

Very glad I was able to stay with the Thakur and his family. I was travelling India on a pretty small budget, but the great value rates the stay in their Heritage Suite was too good to pass up. Ended up staying three nights at the fort and enjoyed the hospitality of the family, the good food, and just generally... More

Narayan Niwas was recommended to me by a friend, and I was not disappointed. It's a lovely old place, with charming rooms, fantastic food and a host who takes an almost inordinate amount of care of his guests. It's a great base to explore the towns of Churu, Ramgarh, Fatehpur, Nawalgarh and Mandawa, and has some lovely havelis of its... More

This is the second time we have stayed in Mahansar. This time we arrived by train from Churu. Alighting at the station is an experience in itself. There is no platform, but the train was full of cheerful people travelling for Holi so everyone told us where to alight. Sure enough an auto was waiting for people to make the... More

We stayed three nights, but could easily have stayed more. We had the castle to ourselves, so got to have a tour of all the rooms. We had a Heritage Room (I'm not sure how many of these there are) and two of the others in our group had the Heritage Suite. It was definitely worth the small extra amount... More

Narayan Niwas castle is located at Mehansar, Churu district of Rajasthan; we arrived in the late evening and were greeted outside the gates by extremely helpful and friendly staff. After a short check-in we were shown to our rooms. The large rustic rooms have arched pillars and authentic and intricate paintings on the walls. Each room is unique and located... More

Sadly, we had only 3 nights in the splendid, historic and original castle in Manansar. The castle was fun to explore, the original paintings exquisite and very photogenic and the stories shared by the owner, Thakur Maheswar Singh, were interesting and inspiring. Our room(s) were like living in the spacious quarters of the harem, with courtyards divided by archways, lovely... More
