Stopped overnight at the Hawthorn Villas and as we drove in we were taken aback at the beautiful gardens and old stables that have been converted to rooms. The host was lovely and she noticed my wife was pregnant. She recommended we swap rooms to the one next door as the staircase was more supported and safer up to the... More

Comfortable and well equipped apartments in beautiful gardens on the fringe of a small town, with friendly and obliging hosts. Steep staircase to sleeping area might not suit some. Only about 12 minute drive from Launceston.

Beautiful gardens with seating thoughtfully placed - we were able to eat our dinner & our breakfast in the sun at various tables. The gardens are just stunning & made for a very restful overnight stay. The stairs to the mezzanine bedroom were a challenge & definitely not for the faint hearted or the balance challenged. The hostess was friendly... More

If you want to "do" Tasmania like a fast food chain , then this place will calm you down and bring you back in the moment . The garden, accommodation and welcoming hosts feels like your coming home. The beds are crisp, comfortable and inviting. The interior design is unique with a clever use of space. I love their use... More

The surrounding gardens are stunning! The Stables are quaint and suitable for no more than 2 people. Bare in mind the beds are in the loft which are accessed by very tight and steep stairs....certainly not for certain folk. It was very stuffy even with all the windows open. Aircon was available however I did not turn it in. The... More

We stayed two nights in the stable rooms and were pleased with all amenities. The surrounding gardens were magnificent and we felt welcome to explore them. My one concern were the stairs to the mezzanine bedroom. They were fine for us but may be a problem for older people. There was only a bannister on one side and they were... More

We received a call advising that our booking had been double booked only one week prior to our stay. This created a lot of stress for us especially as we needed to stay in Carrick on that particular weekend. We were not offered any type of compensation/incentive to re-book etc. Very disappointed.

When drove through the gates it was a bit like entering an English estate...but here we were in Tasmania! The English influence is very evident throughout Australia and a pure joy to stay here even if just for one night. Nicole was there to meet us - our rooms were ready. Upon entering the 'stables' where our rooms were, we... More

We recently stayed here for one night and wished we could stay longer. Nicole was extremely accommodating and the gardens were an absolute delight. It is only a short drive to Launceston so is the perfect place to make day trips from.

My companion, Coral, and I stayed three nights with Nicole and Innes at The Stables. Not only did they 'muck them out' for us (just kidding!) The Stables were quaint, rustic and simply a lovely place to spend the all too limited time we had available. Heating (this was Tasmania in an early Winter blast) was by heat pump, which... More
