I stayed at yhe Axum for 3 nights on a business trip. The Hotel was chosen by my hosts. This is a modern hotel that has all the neccesities needed during your stay. Nice, large, clean rooms. They will bring you a fresh bottle of mineral water everyday; you'll need it - do not dare to drink any other water.... More

This was my second stay at the Axum and things had not improved. Rooms very tied. Shower leaked (shower screen not fitted properly). Service satisfactory. Breakfast buffet good. No credit card facility to pay so make sure you have Ethiopian Birr to pay. WIFI only available in lobby - was very flaky.

a photo breezed across my contributions showing this lovely hotel...NOT. I stayed here , and our company president was in hotel as well...that gives you an idea of slim availability of decent lodging in town!!! Staff never stays where the boss is LOL. Sheets didn't fit bed, towel was a size made for a Chihuahua , room was not very... More

The hotel has two wings. I stayed in the old one. 60 USD per night for a single room. The towels were dirty (blood stains on one). The room was in poor general conditions ad really old furniture. Contrary to what staff said when I checked in, there was NO HOT WATER. Other travellers confirmed they had no hot water... More

Stayed one night after our flight was cancelled from Axum to Lalibela . For Ethiopian standards the room was not bad but bathroom very small shower leaked and had to find someone to give us new towels as reception was not responsive after asking for some. The bar in old part was very atmospheric and good service. The restaurant was... More

We stayed in the new wing. Although the bedroom itself was very nice, the bathroom was utterly dreadful. The shower stank very badly due to serious plumbing problems. The food in the evening restaurant was really excellent with friendly and professional service.

Let me preface by saying I have lived in Ethiopia for 3 years and have stayed in all sorts of hotels throughout the country. This is a hotel I would avoid and tell everyone to do the same. We had been camping for three days and just wanted somewhere clean to sleep so our standards were not very high. The... More

Other reviews cover it. No hot water, little interest from staff in the guests and really ordinary food even by Ethiopian standards. First room we were put in one could not swing a cat and no room to open a suitcase. If they promote gin and tonic in the bar, it is not unreasonable to expect tonic. There were many... More

Been here 3 nights and followed other suggestions. Use New Building for rooms on lower floors and Old Building for food if eating in . My wife is Ethiopian and was pleased with the room. Stayed on 2nd Floor in New Building. Room ok if a little small but shower warmed up after 11am. Bed and bath/shower fine. Taxi from... More

This is really a dreadful place to stay. Even in the supposedly high quality "new wing" the sink and showers leak, the hot water is non-existent and the wifi service is patchy. Breakfast is second rate and the rooms smell musty. All this would be tolerable, however, if it wasn't for the staff. By and large they are sulky, unhelpful... More
