This is a rather run-down motel a bit outside of Porepunkah which is overpriced for what it offers compared to other accommodation in the region. The hotel is not retro style, in fact it has no particular style. It was built probably mid-century but like most hotels of that era has had additions made at various times in various styles.... Great location just a few km's out of the hustle of Bright is where we found serenity alongside the Ovens River view Buffalo Mountain looking down on us - brilliant. Cherie, the proprietor was great; allowing us an early check in to stow our gear and enjoy the day biking the sites. The rooms are great - comfortable and loved... More

Our walking group of close to 30 people chose the Buffalo Motel for our annual excursion, staying 4 nights. The only minor blemish was that my room didn't have a bedside lamp. This was greatly outweighed by the highlights, including (i) the excellent traditional meals, (ii) the relaxing green environment with views to the Mt Buffalo plateau, (iii) Cherie's attentive... What a gem of a facility for a conference. We took 16 people stayed 2 nights used the lounge room (with a roaring fire) for our conference. Breakfast was excellent, the rooms spotless and comfortable. The location close to Winery's, Mt Buffalo and Bright. Cherie made us feel so at home. Great facility, Retro style, best kept secret in the... More

Stayed 2 nights. It's retro style but very comfortable bed and room facilities. Has great deck at the back of the restaurant - great for late afternoon wine/beer and relax. It has a lovely seating area out back also which has a relaxing view. Close to river (not close enough to swim). About 10 mins out of Bright - very... More

We booked this motel on a bit of a whim because we loved its retro styling. The look is maintained within the rooms which are decorated and furnished with the same retro feel. The motel is a short drive away from all the hustle of Bright - the advantage is that it's very quiet and relaxing, especially with the Ovens... More

Great value for money accommodation. Newly renovated bathroom, quiet and beautiful setting at the foot of Mt Buffalo and near the river, are real highlights. Good location from which to explore the north east producing region. We liked the quirky retro style. The shower was a bit prickly but no other complaints.
