It's a cliche but home from home is the best way to describe our recent stay at the lake house hotel. The hotel has recently been refurbished and they have done a good job. The staff are very friendly and very accommodating. The foyer, bar and bedrooms have all had a makeover which made for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.... More

The Lake House Hotel has just been relaunched with new owners and a wonderful management team. The lovely open fire in the reception area and 2 more in the bar makes it lovely and cosy. The staff can not do enough for you.And what can I say about the food only that it's first class. What a wonderful chef.I live... More

Had a lovely time at this wonderful hotel in beautiful surroundings near Portnoo county Donegal, Ireland. The staff were exceptionally helpful providing us with a hot drinks and cakes on arrival in our very comfortable room! Had a lovely meal and very long conversation with the well educated barman.

We had 16 of us, between the main house and a separate cottage. What a lovely staff! We enjoyed every meal and the time spent at the bar after being out all day. Mary and her staff could not have been more hospitable and welcoming. We explored the area thoroughly with suggestions from Mary. We felt right at home from... More

We visited the Lake House Hotel for three days/nights, as part of an Ireland tour organised by BBI. As we did not pay for the individual hotels, we are not in a good position to judge the quality/price ratio of the room. As regards food and beverage, we experienced good meals and wines at very moderate prices. Narin-Portnoo is a... More

We had a meal in this hotel which is now under new management. What a great change! The restaurant was warm and cosy, the staff were professional, friendly and helpful. The menu had plenty of choice and the food was delicious. The choice of dessert was particularly interesting, with toffee apple pie and a delightful peanut pie. The price was... More

Having stayed in the Lake House Hotel numerous times over (about) 15 years and with (now) three different owners, my comments are made more in sorrow than anger, with the intention that they are treated as constructive criticism, are delivered to the decision makers and bring this old and valued friend back to health. They are also detailed in the... More

The best thing about this hotel is the welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble. Hotel itself is maybe in need of a make over and is dated in parts but nothing too major. Perfectly comfortable. Food good & rooms spacious. Would stay again.

We stayed two nights in the Garden Room which is dog friendly. The room was clean, dry and welcoming and we could park our car safely and adjacent in the guests car park. The bar was excellent with a warm fire and food could be served in the bar or the adjoining dining room. We ate one evening and had... More
