The motel units are located 20~30m from the waterfront of Coopers Beach. This is a beautiful beach that lends itself well to swimming, fishing and walks galore. Extremely pleasant and quiet surroundings. There are also lots of historic points of interest in the region. While the decor and furnishings of the motel units are a bit tired, everything is functional... More

We stayed here for a Winter's weekend break with our two young children in July. The location is fantastic, literally a few steps down to the beautiful beach. The rooms are 'old school' but they are extremely clean and cosy. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. My only suggestion would be that they get some blackout blinds as the... More

We were looking for an affordable place to say for one winter night showing a friends as much of northland as possible. This place was perfect. Older rooms but clean and brilliant location. You could watch the sunset lying in bed from room 3. Even though it was July we playing in the water a bit and enjoyed some time... More

Booked this accommodation on line. Arrived in the dark to very friendly owners. When we opened the curtains the next morning, the view was absolutely stunning and breathtaking. The sunset was just as spectacular. We stayed three nights here. Nice and clean, affordable. A little outdated but the views and location make up for this. Would stay again. Thanks so... More

Friendly greeting on arrival, awesome situation with the sea lapping at your doorstep, two nights spent with total relaxation in the evenings and breakfast served at our convenience in the morning by the hosts, truly delightful. Accommodation a little tired looking and does require some cosmetic fix up, but we saw past that and highly recommend you stay at San... More

Arriving in our unit to see the stunning view for miles completely wowed me. One of the best beachfront views at an affordable price in New Zealand. Stunning sunsets and every day the beach was quiet. The lodge is located down the best end of the beach with easy access. The location and views are the absolute highlights here. It... More

I have frequently stayed at San Merino (Waterfront on Coopers Beach) over the summer & found all aspects of my experience absolutely excellent. The Hosts Tobie & Phil deliver a warm & friendly welcome, the location is perfection with amazing sunrise over the bay, the beach is right there for a stroll or swim. The rooms are pleasant, comfortable and... More

Who needs to fly to Fiji to see such an amazing sunset and clear water over the bay. This was a perfect break, amazing beachfront position and laid back atmosphere. The owners (Tobi and her husband) were very hospitable and friendly. Our room was dated but fastidiously clean and functional. Owners have plans for improvements. Will surely be back! Tracey

We needed a one night's accommodation and chanced on the San Marino! We were delighted with the beach front position and were sent off to sleep to the gentle sound of the waves. The San Marino has an enviable position and, although not luxurious, it was a perfect spot for us for the night. It was clean and comfortable.

Spent a few days touring North of Auckland and stayed at San Marino for a night. Was very tempted to stay another but had other places to visit. Very clean and tidy, good value for money. Right on the beach front and the view across the bay was divine.
