We chose the Old Oak based on Trip Advisor reviews and were so glad that we did. We had the pleasure of staying two nights toward the end of our seven week trip to New Zealand. We arrived later than expected because we had stopped on our trip from Paihia to do several hikes. Gary greeted us when we arrived... More

Old inn, refurbished into dream-come-true elegance. In fishing village with access to good cafés and sunsets. Peaceful, quiet, beautifully furnished. Nice walking, excellent views, artsy shops. Well managed by Kiwi/American owners.

I have just returned from a fantastic weekend away at this very beautiful place. Located on the waterfront. My balcony was right off the double room. The room was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully put together. We were welcomed warmly by the owners. There was lots of attention to detail. I agree with previous reviews - stay at least 2 nights

We stayed one night at The Old Oak the evening of the Mangonui Wine and Food and Market day. The hotel is a well thought out tasteful mixture of old and new . The situation is perfect if you want to absorb the flavour of this wonderful village on the edge of a habour. The owners are delightful as was... More

Had read about this gem in Mangonui some time ago so when the opportunity presented itself for a 2 night stay we jumped at it. We were not disappointed ! From the time of check in to check out the hosts were understated, helpful and unobtrusive while the ambience was truly inspiring. The refurbishment and attention to detail superb. The... More

You need at least two nights to get the benefit of this fantastic historical and listed building. We stayed in the Ponga suite and it was brilliant. Views across the bay and a balcony to die for. Every facility in the three room suite (lounge, bedroom and bathroom). Claw foot bath had brilliant views. Expensive at $275 but worth every... More

Easy to find, free parking to front of hotel great location, friendly owner. Room small, but well appointed, bathroom had a great shower, small garden to the rear for you to sit out, visited by the resident friendly cat.

We could not recommend this hotel enough. It had everything we needed from a small but exquisite place to stay, location ideal, room excellent, to relax on your own decking drinking good New Zealand wine whilst looking out over the well laid out garden in front of you, it was brilliant, any one going to Manganui should make it their... We stayed for two nights in Ruru suite which is a petite 2 bedroom unit. It was beautifully equipped with the most comfortable beds and a selection of pillows. The linen including towels etc was first class. Our main room overlooked the water so it was lovely to sit in our bed or on the balcony taking in the view.... More
