My family stopped in at the Anglers Rest for the Carvery on Sunday (11 of us) and everyone enjoyed thoroughly, so much so, we decided to go back the following evening and just select from the menu.Like many guests on here we were staying at the nearby Slieve Russell hotel but didn't fancy eating and drinking there the whole duration... Popped in here for a carvery lunch during the week. The food was mediocre, well cooked but bland. Chicken curry tasted like it made from a packet. Service was friendly, decor is very nice. Decent selection of craft beers. Reasonably priced.

Was so impressed by this place that Ive made my first trip advisor review! My girlfriend and I are staying in the slieve russell and heard about this place so decided to give it a go last night. With it being a tuesday we thought it would be very quiet but when we arrived there was a good buzz going... More

Had eaten carvery here a number of times and it was always good. Not fabulous but good. Missed the carvery time one Sunday so ate off the main menu. I had chicken gluons, served with peas and chips. Thankfully I had ordered stir fried veg as this was fresh. The chips and stir fry were edible but the gout ones... More

Went in for lunch midweek. We were in a bit of a hurry so was delighted to see there was a carvery. Got a large portion of cod, potatoes & veg which was very nice. Others had pizza, chicken curry with rice & chips which they all enjoyed. The service was quick & friendly & considering it was a carvery... More

While staying at slieve Russell hotel we walked into Ballyconnell and found the anglers rest and what a restaurant . My wife had the cod and chips and said it was very well cooked and I had the minute steak cooked perfectly and the portions were just right. The service from all the staff was exceptional and courteous and will... More

Very good service, great atmosphere, but the food let us down. The steak was fatty and very hard to digest, and though not expensive, certainly wasn't up to standard. The service was very good and the waitress was helpful and friendly. We also found out the last taxi was 10pm, so we had to finish our meal before than or... More

I had Steak which was huge and cooked perfectly and my hubby had curry which he said was beautiful. Service was quick and friendly and we have said we would actually drive the... More

I will keep this simple, great pub grub, excellent service, huge portions, good value for money. One of the best home made burgers I have ever had the pleasure to consume, non of the pre bought ones from a local supermarket. On par with the finest you will get in America, the home of the great burger. Def will return... More

Rang to book, but was advised no need, they'd fit us in somehow. Very friendly from the off, arrived around 7pm on a Saturday to find the place very busy, but true to their word we were quickly seated, beer got, orders taken, all very good, a lot of places could learn a lot from the customer service standards here....
