My husband and I spent two weeks at this wonderful hotel. My husband was working and I tagged along. The gardens and birds are spectacular, it is a photographers dream. The hotel staff are friendly and efficient. I had a problem with a damp floor and within 15 minutes I was moved to a new room. The food is great,... More

This place was really nice. The rooms were comfortable and lovely. From the entry outside into the lobby and then to the rooms - all was beautiful. There was really nice artwork everywhere - and not just paintings. The grounds were also amazing. We spent a nice morning walking around outside taking pictures of the beautiful landscaping. The breakfast was... More

This hotel is a nice break from the chain hotels. The gardens are the best I have ever seen at a hotel. Beautiful pool. Most of all I like the attitude of the staff. They make you feel at home. The one main bellman has been there for so many years. Always really friendly. We have been there maybe 6... More

This hotel is a piece of art!!!! Everywhere is beautiful art. Stained glass, sculptures, the art of the garden. Rooms are very comfortable. Garden view room is a must. Food is fabulous. The Sea Bass was exquisite. It is hard to find, but worth it when you get there!!! We are planning to stay there again on our next trip... More

We were in San Jose on business and our colleagues recommended this place. The service is over the top! It is family run and they take quite care in all they do. We were there during the World Cup soccer game and the staff invited us to watch with them in the back kitchen. How often does that happen? Costa... More

Walking through the main doors past sculptures, an expansive mineral collection, stunning floral arrangements with the 'botanical garden' grade grounds peeking back at you, there'll be no doubt you've chosen well. Come the next morning when you choose between fresh tropical fruits, traditional Costa Rican breakfast fare, homemade pastries and fresh juices, the choice will be confirmed once more. We... More

After a long day of travel and a late arrival, we finally checked into this beautiful hotel. As we walked into our room, we found the most welcome sight of a light supper waiting for us. Since we were on a birding adventure, the beautiful grounds of the Bougainvillea offered a great start to our adventure. The grounds of this... More

Our group of 17 stayed at this hotel at the beginning of our Costa Rica vacation last month. The room was very nice and clean. The service staff were well trained and most courteous. Just so polite. The food was good and the bar was great. You can't miss the beautiful gardens at the hotel. Don't forget the pool. I... More

I've stayed at 6 hotels in and around San Jose for work. Hotel Bougainvilla is by far the most charming and relaxing place I have stayed. We organized a workshop with 8 organizations (13 people) from around Latin America here and could not have been more pleased. This hotel has a real sense of place -- perhaps because of the... More
