My husband and I stayed here for one night in September 2014. We were there mid-week and I guess it was not the busy season as the entire town seemed deserted. We arrived by train and the hotel was an easy walk from the train platform. Our room was big enough, mattresses were nice and firm. But the bed linens... More

Excellent location if you are travelling by train. Even with luggage it is an easy walk from the station. Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed our dinner in the hotel restaurant and breakfast the next morning. The hike from the hotel to Burg Eltz is well marked and very manageable.

Pleasant family run hotel. Lovely welcoming service. Great food. Excellent location. Simple basic rooms. Lovely spot for a few days on the Mosel or as a base for a week's touring around. Burg Eltz worth a visit and walk able from hotel. Great terrace and space for kids to play in front of hotel.

We stayed here a couple nights near the end of a bike tour along the Mosel. It is mentioned in Rick Steves' book but downplayed a bit, but I think it is undersold...it was clean and comfortable, great location if you're interested in biking/hiking to Burg Eltz, or taking the bus if you don't want to hike in the rain... Last minute booking. We had a very small room with two separate beds because the hotel was full. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Rooms aren't big but clean. Location is great, next to Burg Eltz and other villages next to the Mosel river. Breakfast is ok but also not impressive. Didn't had a great night because of the beds.... More

My husband found this on the internet and we picked it because of it's location to hike to Burg Eltz. It was perfect for that, but was so much more. It was about a 5 minute walk from the Moselkern train station on very quiet streets with friendly locals. We were shown to our rooms and I was impressed with... More

This hotel reopened under new ownership in 2010 (all reviews prior to this date refer to its previous incarnation as the "Anker Pitt" and are no longer relevant ). I had stayed in the old Anker Pitt some 20 years ago, so I was intrigued to discover what the new owners had done. The hotel has been completely renovated, whilst... More

Arrived 1.30am to find hotel closed!! Took until 4am to find someone to open up!! This hotel is stuck in a 1970's time warp. Rooms ok in size but shower room small. Towels threadbare and bed linen meagre and thin. One very thin pillow provided. Breakfast ok for a German hotel. View from hotel window is the best part.

Moselkern is the rail stop for Berg Eltz--a must see castle. The castle is a good 45-50 minute hike (not stroll) from Moselkern which provides a good break from travelling. You can not drive to the castle. But the Anker-Pitt is the reward. Large (by German small town standards) double rooms, newly refurbished. overlooking a park and the Mosel, are... More

10 miles down the Mosel river from Cochem is the small town of Moselkern. The Anker-Pitt Hotel is a blast from the past. The decor is perfect 60's. Once you have come to terms with this, especially the exterior, the hotel offer an ideal place to stay for the 30 min (from the car park)wooded walk by a steam to... More
