I was looking for a pet-friendly hotel in High Prairie and was told this hotel might accept pets. When the front desk clerk answered the phone, the first thing I did was ask if they accepted pets. He said that they did, but that it was an extra $15 per night to have pets in the room. I said that... More

I have stayed here twice the last year and will stay again in future. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is an old building but clean and very warm on a cold night. Restaurant on premises has good food at reasonable prices. Room price was very economical. Recommended.

besides the cigarette burns on our carpet comforter and table in our non-smoking room we found poop on our towel snot on the walls and having the cleaning lady walk in on me using the bathroom, we found the place very sticky and dirty and also noticed a stinky smell in both rooms and hallways. DONT BOOK ROOMS HERE!

So I get this is a cheap hotel but there is no excuse for not having it clean! If there would have been any other place open we would have been gone night one. The smell in the room was terrible, bugs in bathroom, no hot water in the morning and holes in window screen. My other issue is the... More

This is the third time my husband and I have stayed at the Royal Star when visiting family in High Prairie. Each time, we have been impressed with the cleanliness of the place. Our room with a queen bed was spacious. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Bathroom has lots of room. Free Wifi is a plus. We... More

This is your typical cheap motel on first appearance, I'll give anyone that, BUT this is one of the best motels I've ever stayed in. The gentlemen at the front desk are absolutely astounding! They're friendly and helpful and even opened a bottle of wine I had bought that needed a corkscrew. The rooms are spotless! I took a bath... More

The first impression of this motel is pretty much cute with peaceful air in beautiful late summer weather and I did feel the whole atmosphere of this motel is like nice and clean home style relaxing me with comfortale coziness in a small town, which never let me down while staying all the way up in Alberta. I have to... More

I usually stay in one of the bigger hotels when I come up here on business but because of forest fire evacuation in nearby towns they were all booked. I thought I would be sleeping in the car but thought I would check this motel. About midnight and I was lucky to get a room. The fellow looks like a... More

I had the impression from previous visits that one could cruise into High Level and find a decent and cheap place to stay fairly easily. I was however a bit worried that everything might be overrun by oil crews and prices bid up, as is the case in many other Alberta small towns. Maybe because of the downturn, the first... More
