My family and I stayed at Hotel Sugar Beach for 4 nights during the second week of March. It is a beautiful hotel and very good value for the experience of peace and relaxation you will receive! My brother uses a motorized scooter due to mobility issues and we were very pleasantly surprised by the accessibility of the hotel grounds!... More

Don't go, please don't go. If you go you'll love it and tell your friends and they'll go and then when I go back it will be full. Unless of course you don't want a quiet parradise on a stunning beach with fabulous wild life. If you don't want Victor to tell you about how the chef can cook the... More

Located right on a small isolated beach. True Costa Rican vibe. Fresh local food with great service. A local helped us pick the place. We came for a few days and stayed for a week(!) Would definitely come back, this time with kids...

Our stay here was arranged by Costa Rica Vacations and their local knowledge helps to pick the best spots. This facility is carefully managed and staffed by the best. It is sort of isolated on its own beach and is a local favorite for Tico families on the weekends. The sound of the surf makes for excellent sleeping - our... More

We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at Sugar Beach! We will pass along the compliment to the reception staff - we find that they are always more than happy to help. Sugar Beach remains a great spot to unwind, unplug or live with, or like, the howlers eating & resting! We appreciate that you have taken the... More

Hotel Sugar Beach is a wonderful getaway, located right on a small isolated beach north of the busy touristy beach towns of Tamarindo and Potrero. We stayed for 4 days. It's very secluded and quiet. Because of its location, unless you have a car (we didn't), you will probably just stay at the resort and eat your meals there. This... More

Dear Bill B. We appreciate you view of Sugar Beach very much as this is what we aspire for daily! We try to maintain the property in ways that allow the wildlife to thrive in their own familiar forest, keep the service level high and the prices affordable. Thanks again! More

What a wonderful place, heaven on earth indeed! The only thing that exceeded the beautiful and idyllic surroundings were the people. Pablo, Gaby, Melissa, Gama, Sven, Alejandro, Eric, Victor, Issac, Leslie (I apologize if I have misspelled anyone's name) and all the rest of the wonderful people at Sugar Beach were unbelievable and never hesitated to do anything to make... We stayed here with on a group trip for 3 nights. We felt as if we had moved into a tropical zoo. As we walked around the property we encountered the true residents of the area: monkeys, ctenosaurs (huge lizards), coati (large raccoon-like mammal), many small lizards, numerous birds, and countless insects. We were in the older cabins arrayed around... More

Dear Shakespeare fan, The staff and all of the critters say Thank You for your stay! I personally love your view of us as a tropical zoo. Though we have no cages or borders, the setting allows those animals to thrive and live by choice at Sugar Beach. We are dedicated to maintaining this and the charm. We will be... More

We spent four day after Xmas in a secondfloor suite. We have been here many times before through the years and this was one of our most memorable stays at SB. Everyone spoiled us rotten; the waiters, the chef, and the lady from housekeeping. I spent my time admiring nature. It was amazing! The baby howler monkey so tiny it... More

We loved your vivid description of all of the animals you were able to spot in our property. How lucky of you to get to see the baby turtle making it all the way into the ocean! It's great to hear that you had a memorable Christmas season at Sugar Beach. Everyone, no matter what role they play at Sugar... More

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay with our 2 young boys. It's like stumbling upon paradise!. The location is the winning point. Overlooking the beach which is clean, safe and quiet. Fantastic views-sunsets. Our room was large and clean. Totally sufficient and very good value. Great waiting staff and front of house. There were couples, groups and families when... More

Thanks for rating our beach as clean, safe, and quiet! Some of our other reviews do talk about our location and the great sunsets we have here. So glad to hear you were able to enjoy it - along with your boys. We will share with our front staff and waiters your good review as well. Feel free to come... More
