If you have better options to opt for, then this is definitely not for you. I stayed here as nearby hotels were full and I was travelling alone. I paid RM79 for an air-conditioned room. The room was generally clean if you ignore the stains on the wall and aged furnitures in the room. Still, for a one night stay,... More

We stayed there for one night, arrived at 11pm and paid RM 65 for our room. My roommate says that he woke up during the call for morning prayer and yes it was loud but luckily I am hard to wake :-p If you want, request for rooms at the end of the corridor. Our friends stayed in one of... More

If you're going to perhentians and you have to sleepover in kuala besut, you have almost no choice but to sleep in this hotel. it's actually the best one in this village, compare to other sleeping rooms located on the south part of town. beds are bad and small, walls are thin.

We were in the same situation as everyone else - staying the night for the morning ferry, we had to stay in the first floor fan room for 35rm, cheap, but you get what you pay for. Sleeping was virtually impossible as the fan was useless, and with no windows or fresh air it turned into a sweat box. It... More

Got stuck in Kuala Besut, had to stay in a hotel until the morning ferry - like so many others, that hotel was Nan Hotel. It's not horrendous, but it's also not very clean - I slept wrapped in my sarong on top of the sheets. The bathroom and toilet are combined, and the size is not a millimetre more... More

As many others we had to stay one night in Kuala Besut in order to catch the boat to Perhentian the morning after. We had no booking and we tried to get a room at Samudera which looked nicer from outside, but it was fully booked. So we went to Nan Hotel and luckily we found a room just as... More

What to do? When you're on your way to the Perhentian's and you're stuck in Kuala Besut, you might as well stay at Nan Hotel. But that is the best thing there is to say about the place. It is overpriced and uncomfortable, but, hey, you'll enjoy the perhentian's even more!

Although this place is cheap, we would not stay there again. There appear to be better options in town. The staff does barely speak any english, the matresses are worn out and our bathroom was tiny and very old. No charm at all. If you decide to stay here, be sure to book an aircon room. The air is so... More

As I was having trouble finding up to date reviews on Perhentian Islands and Kuala Besut, here are some updates. Nan Hotel is certainly not a place you would spend more than 1 night, however it was more than adequate if you need to stay the night before hitting the Islands. It is of course basic, but it is also... More
