We always love stopping over at Kuilfontein Stable cottages en route to Plett. Its a gorgeous farm in the karoo offering delicious dinners and breakfast and charming, comfortable rooms hosted by the gracious Penny. The new paddock cottages are beautiful and are self catering.

The ideal stop between Jo’burg and Cape Town. Peaceful, dead quiet and the ideal place to rest and recharge with energy. It is your chance to once, stop and meet with the “silent Karoo”, its relaxing surroundings and,… please get out at night and watch the stars. You’ll remember that sky for a long time! We enjoyed the personal service,... More

What a stunning fantastic accommodation. Perfect location out in the country, wonderful night view of the stars in the milkyway, quiet and relaxing surroundings. Friendly efficient staff. Clean fresh crisp percale linen in both of the large beautifully decorated bedrooms. Perfect bathroom facilities in both rooms. A kitchen large enough with all the necessary utensils to cook one of the... More

We took our mountain bikes and road on all the farm roads which was fantastic for the kids and I. We also did some hiking to the nearby koppies which have interesting link to the Anglo Boer War. The accommodation is excellent as is the food. This is my third visit we will be back.

On a recent trip from Cape Town to Durban with my two sons, after reading rave reviews about the self-catering accommodation, we booked and stayed over for only one night at The Paddocks at this establishment. The white-washed entrance pillars alongside the N1 were a welcoming site after a delayed departure from Cape Town. We arrived close to sunset, and... More

We stopped over at Kuilfontein Stables en route to Knysna, what a stunning venue. The rooms are spacious and very clean, each with their own bathroom. The Karoo Lamb for dinner is always amazing and breakfast is quite a spread. The hosts are fantastic and really make a huge effort. Really worth a visit

We stayed here years ago and this time around it was just as good. The rooms are lovely - comfortable, stylish and lovely crisp white linen - exactly what you need after hours on the road. A sundowner on the patio followed by delicious dinner , a good sleep and an excellent breakfast, make this more than just a stopover-... More

Our holiday can not start without visiting you. The welcome, the people and that fabulous dinner. We just love coming back to you. The Blue Room is our favorite and that drink on Rack and Ruin after a long dat is just perfect. Thanks Penny and the whole team

Whenever I travel by car either from Cape Town to Gauteng or the other way I make sure to stay over at Kuilfontein Stable Cottages. Last night was another opportunity to indulge on good food, fine wine and wonderful hosts. The 2 course meal was fantastic, the "stable room" above expectation and a perfect break exactly halfway between the Cape... More

This is the third time that we have stayed here and, as before, we were not disappointed. Penny Southey is a warm and entertaining hostess, and the food is really good. Kuilfontein stable cottages are an ideal place to stay for travellers between Johannesburg and Cape Town. We loved it.TonyC
