Kuilfontein stables in not just another stay over , but THE stay over after a long day on the road. You will experience the peace and quiet of the Karoo on your afternoon and morning walk. Peaceful surroundings with interesting farm noises, very friendly hosts and staff and the meals are excellent. Highly recommended

This is a beautiful, well appointed place to stay on your way to the Western or Eastern Cape. The 8 stable cottages are set on a Karoo farm with lots of animals & beautiful sunset views. We always feel welcome & Penny & Lexi - her daughter, greet us by name when we arrive. They, and all of the staff made... More

What a wonderful stay ! Well appointed cottages. We stayed in the Paddocks. The personal welcome and already prepared meals waiting for us were appreciated. A full moon and wonderful sunset. Lots of history and stories. A refreshing dip in the farm pool. We got to see the cows being milked in the morning. A truly wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

This was our first time but my parents have stayed before. The staff and owners are so welcoming and helpful. The rooms are gorgeous and very comfortable. And let's not forget the very yummy food. I highly recommend this place as a stop over, it is calming and beautiful. You will leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. See you later in... More

We have been to Kuilfontein 3 times already and I will never even consider another stopover. The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly. We normally stay at the paddocks as we travel with our pets. We always order the braai-pack as the location has the most beautiful sunsets and what is better then having that view while cooking, but please... More

Given its location just off the motorway most of the guests here are one nighters. We were told that they were booked up to mid Jan so book ahead. The " paddock " accomodation is in a row of four converted stable block rooms with quite spacious rooms fitted with basic self catering equipment with a small veranda and braii. Everything... More

Hi Nicholas, I am sorry your stay at The Paddocks@Kuilfontein was disappointing.. With regards the keys, the doors have a latch system where the doors lock from the inside and therefore do not require keys so we have very seldom had requests for keys. They are available. I am also surprised about your comment about the ice cream as these... More

Very friendly reception received at the cottage. The lady managing the cottages is very helpful and also knowledgeable regarding the history of the farm as well as the region. Everything needed was there. It is comfortable and self-catering. Please take something for breakfast with you.

We had been traveling 5000km through the Southern Cape on motorcycles and stayed over on our return home. We stayed over at the Paddocks - self catering units. We were met by Evelyn - friendly and charming - she made us feel really welcome. The rooms were clean, well furnished and very comfortable. We had pre-booked supper - the most... More

This is a wonderful halfway stop when travelling between Cape Town and Durban - far enough away from the N1 to escape the noise of trucks but not too far a detour. The copse of trees is visible in the distance from the highway and marks this oasis in the rather desolate topography. The rooms are small and adequately furnished... More

Classic hospitality and beautifully appointed rooms. Full of charm and character. The perfect midway stop for a leisurely trip from Johannesburg to Cape Town and back. Request the Blue room for a private tucked away gem. Rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. Take the time to read about the areas history in the guest guides fascinating.
