The first thing you notice is all the signs telling you what you cant do at this place. The coffee was awful, the cake was average. I think the location is perfect , the management not so perfect. Pity because this place has a perfect location to be one of the best on the C2C route

We have visited Park Head on numerous occasions, when doing the C2C, day rides and on a couple of occasions on an evening for dinner and we have always had excellent food, excellent service and value for money. Park Head is a fantastic facility for cyclists, people undertaking other outdoor activities, or for for those who fancy a drive into... More

Exactly what you need at the end of a day's cycling. Very comfortable, nice and warm. The food is first rate but you have to pre-order food as it is cooked specially. This interesting site was once a railway station, and the Waskerly Way cycle track follows the route of the former railway line.

Perfect place to end after a hard day cycling. Comfortable bed with en-suite bathroom, delicious dinner and breakfast, secure bike lock up, and a mean gin and tonic! The views out across to the coast were spectacular (actually, pretty much 360 degree views!), and our hosts were knowledable, with good tips for our next day's ride. It was interesting to... More

We've been here a few times now for breakfast, lunch, or even just a coffee. Parkhead station cafe/restaurant is on a former railway line between Stanhope and Consett, much of which is now the c2c cycle route, hence its popularity with cyclists. It's in a spectacular and isolated location on the fells above Stanhope. It's very homely, we liked the... More

Can only comment on tea room cycling stop - made to feel like second class citizens, food and drink a little pricey. Full when we arrived and not allowed in a room at the back which was half empty. Even a cycling couple with a baby in a tag-a-long weren't allowed in. Grumpy woman served us at the till and... More

Stopped for tea as a final stop on a 1 day coast to coast bike ride. Previous stops were Greystoke Cycle Cafe and Hartside Cafe both of which were welcoming and fantastic. Parkhead Station is the exact opposite. Staff miserable and maybe better placed in the local shop from League of Gentlemen worrying whether customers are going to touch the... More

We stopped at Parkhead Station as part of a day cycle ride down to Seaburn. The cafe is so well placed and welcoming. Service was quick even though there was a crowd of us and we hadn't rung ahead to alert the owners of our visit. I had the best bacon sandwich ever. Soft home made roll with crispy bacon.... More

As part of a 10 person C2C group, we visited the cafe today. We had spend over £200 in Heartside Pass and we expected to sped the same today. However I was met by the owner - who, just as the rest of our group were pulling in and as I had bought 2 drinks, said to a colleague "quick,... More

We stayed at Parkhead Station in May of 2015 for a night during our cycle ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. the location is fantastic on top of Stanhope moor. we where met with a welcoming cup of tea. The room was very comfortable and well furnished. We had the evening meal which was very good. Certainly we will be going... More
