My partner and I booked the polar express train journey and needed a place to stay due to my grandparents not being able to sit for too long (3 hour drive). I called the Parkhead Station House to book as I like to book over the phone, they told me the rooms and I was able to choose what I... More

Straight away from the off we found the "manageress"? Had a very unfortunately brusque and frosty manner. As passing cyclists we just had tea and a quick snack ,sandwich, which was very basic. The gents w.c. Was out of order and I was told that I would have to use ladies because someone had put something down the toilet. This... More

A hard push up lots of steep hills on your bike to get there if you're cycling especially after a hard days riding! However, upon being received at the b&b you are given a great reception and are offered a warm drink to heat yourself up! The food was very tasty at dinner and breakfast and the rooms were named... Stunning location standing alone on the moors with 360° panoramic views. Whilst isolated, the facilities at Stanhope are just 3 miles away. This lovely building stands on the site of a station building; the railway has long gone and now forms the C2C cycle trail. As a result the attached tea room is extremely popular with cyclists and walkers alike.... More

We decided to stay here at the end of our 2nd day C2C ride. Yes it meant that we had last big hill to climb on day 2 but the satisfaction of reaching Parkhead Station was well worth it. We had excellent help booking by telephone, but responding to emails was less successful. When you are actually staying there and... More

I was cycling the C2C and after a very long day in the saddle it was a welcome sight to arrive at Parkhead Station House. I arrived quite late and was not expecting to have much of an opportunity to have a decent meal but Lorraine and Terry were waiting for me and served up one of the finest meals... More

A very welcoming and hospitable establishment with excellent food and a very informative landlady. An added bonus was the dawn chorus from the grouse on the Moor. Ideally positioned for either route of the c2c or just refreshments at the top of crawleyside bank.

First, the bad: yes there are "do not" signs all over the place, and the lady of the house is a bit full of herself and doubtless could appear rude to some.... BUT... We arrived out of the blue cos my son needed the loo. The sign says "only for paying customers" so although I bought a chic bar to... More

The first thing you notice is all the signs telling you what you cant do at this place. The coffee was awful, the cake was average. I think the location is perfect , the management not so perfect. Pity because this place has a perfect location to be one of the best on the C2C route
