Can only comment on tea room cycling stop - made to feel like second class citizens, food and drink a little pricey. Full when we arrived and not allowed in a room at the back which was half empty. Even a cycling couple with a baby in a tag-a-long weren't allowed in. Grumpy woman served us at the till and... More

Stopped for tea as a final stop on a 1 day coast to coast bike ride. Previous stops were Greystoke Cycle Cafe and Hartside Cafe both of which were welcoming and fantastic. Parkhead Station is the exact opposite. Staff miserable and maybe better placed in the local shop from League of Gentlemen worrying whether customers are going to touch the... More

We stopped at Parkhead Station as part of a day cycle ride down to Seaburn. The cafe is so well placed and welcoming. Service was quick even though there was a crowd of us and we hadn't rung ahead to alert the owners of our visit. I had the best bacon sandwich ever. Soft home made roll with crispy bacon.... More

As part of a 10 person C2C group, we visited the cafe today. We had spend over £200 in Heartside Pass and we expected to sped the same today. However I was met by the owner - who, just as the rest of our group were pulling in and as I had bought 2 drinks, said to a colleague "quick,... More

We stayed at Parkhead Station in May of 2015 for a night during our cycle ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. the location is fantastic on top of Stanhope moor. we where met with a welcoming cup of tea. The room was very comfortable and well furnished. We had the evening meal which was very good. Certainly we will be going... More

A unique moor-top spot with big open views that you share with lapwing, rabbits and the hardy passing cyclists on the C2C route. A remarkable B&B that represents years of pioneering effort by Lorraine and Terry, who put their souls into offering their most sincere service, whether to those passing by who need a sustaining snack, or those like us... This is not the B and B but the tea room back room review I arrived as support fr a C2C in 1 day team. I was luckily allowed in the front door after being told if I was a cyclist that the back room was my only entrance I was then told I would have to relocate from the... More

I cycled here from Rowlands Gill, up hill all the way, about 18 miles and was looking forward to a nice cooked breakfast in a warm and friendly place. The Woman was as miserable as sin and not friendly at all. I mentioned I don't eat sausages so could I please have something else in place of sausages on my... More

This place is perfect for cycling, right on the top of a hill on the C2C route - not just for C2C riders but it's a nice ride up from Tyneside too. It's a pity that the staff are always so miserable, every time you go in they have dour faces on, and act as if they could not care... More

We visited Parhead Station early evening on 26 November en rout to Weardale Station to pick up Polar Express. As we were running late we rang ahead to order a meal to be ready when we arrived. It's a bit out of the way and a little off the beaten track, but found it no bother with the help of... More
