This place is perfect for cycling, right on the top of a hill on the C2C route - not just for C2C riders but it's a nice ride up from Tyneside too. It's a pity that the staff are always so miserable, every time you go in they have dour faces on, and act as if they could not care... More

We visited Parhead Station early evening on 26 November en rout to Weardale Station to pick up Polar Express. As we were running late we rang ahead to order a meal to be ready when we arrived. It's a bit out of the way and a little off the beaten track, but found it no bother with the help of... More

This was a lovely location at the top of the Pennines. We were made very welcome by the hosts and had a delicious roast cooked for us. The station has been sympathetically restored and we were delighted with the tasty breakfast.

After a very long, wet and cold bike ride it was lovely to be greeted by friendly staff and an immediate offer of a hot beverage. The rooms were cosy and well presented and above all warm. With a safe area to keep our bikes overnight we could immediately relax and enjoy our surroundings. The evening meal was fabulous, you... More

We arrived starving and weary at about 4.15 after 3 hours in the saddle and were so relieved the cafe didn't close until 5pm. We spent several minutes looking at the menu board deciding what we were going to eat - it all sounded delicious. We went through an alcove to place our order only to be told with a... More

After a very very long and hilly ride we were greeted by Terry he soon got our bikes locked up and Lorraine took us to our rooms. We had 2 rooms which were both family rooms so if you require a twin you will have to fight over the bunkbeds. The B&B is very rustic and unique. 1 of our... More

I have just stayed here with 8 of my colleagues as we were doing the C2C whitehaven to Tynemouth, we started arriveing from 4.30 up till 6.30 where we were greeted with a nice warm welcom and a hot cup of tea, all facilities were I must say excellent and could have not felt more at home than what we... I stopped off here on the c2c a couple of years ago on a chilly wet windy day and warmed up by the fire. Stopped off again for tea and cake with the family. Great menu, friendly cosey, great cake and a lovely cuppa. Recommended stop off on the c2c or just for a bite to eat, beautiful location too

We spent one night here as a stopover on the C2C. The location and views are stunning with lots of wildlife. The accommodation we found to be very cramped and fairly basic. We had breakfast and evening meal. The choice was limited and the quality only average. Overall this was a disappointing place to stay, particularly as it has the... More

A wonderful welcome for 3 weary C2C cyclists. Friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms. Nothing was too much trouble, Lorraine was a superb host. A great place to stay whether on C2C cycle ride or just to visit and view the wonderful countryside.
