I spent the Christmas on my first trip to the Gambia at the Coco ocean and the new year at the sheraton. We arrived late and were met by the extremely courteous and helpful team at Coco Ocean. Gambia is not very big and i spent my time exploring every other hotel of it's class to be sure i chose... More

We were recommended to stay in this hotel by family and were not disappointed at all. This is a beautiful hotel and all the waiting staff are very friendly and are happy to offer recommendations regarding the food. The cleaning staff were also friendly but very keen to offer us other services that tourists might be interested in - e.g.... More

This is still the best Hotel in the Gambia. This was visit number six (6) in three (3) years. Yes there are problems. We arrived at 8pm and the reception staff were are friendly as "Pit Bulls at a Dog Fight". No welcome drink (always had one on my other visits). We were shown to a room that was small.... More

From the minute you drive in you know this is one classy joint. The interior decor is extremely Chic with alot of Moroccan influence. The room we were given was really nice. The home made Moroccan shower gel and shampoo was a great touch. The breakfasts were one of the best we have ever had. Love the cascading pools. Beaches... More

My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights in November 2011. We transferred from the Mandina Lodge and suffered from slight ‘culture-shock’ coming from a unique riverside stay in a floating lodge to a modern and very ‘western’ hotel at Coco Ocean. We stayed in a superior penthouse and our room was very large and spotlessly clean. The bed... More

We changed this year to the Coco Ocean after many years at the Kairaba which we felt needs some freshening up. Also, the beach erosion is now very severe. The Coco Ocean did not disappoint us as it is a superbly well-run hotel with excellent facilities, particularly the spa. The food is also first-class. We upgraded to the seaview Club... More

Travelling with the Gambian Experience ( fantastic company!) we flew with Monarch to the Gambia for our second visit. The flight was lovely, we did upgrade though - our arrival was smooth and we arrived to a lovely reception at the Coco Beach. I agree with everything that SVKG states, and alf03, settling our bill was a bit of a... More

My wife, two year old daughter and I have just stayed at the hotel for seven days. We chose The Gambia for three reasons 1.Because of recommendation 2.Because we wanted a hot beach holiday in feb/march and we didn’t want to spend a fortune on an ordinary room and expensive food in the Caribbean when our sterling would go a... We wanted a beach holiday in the middle our West African trip to counter balance the big cities of Accra and Dakar. All signs pointed to The Gambia because of our schedule and the lack of flights going anywhere else. We are not the package resort type and it quickly became obvious that the Gambian market is pretty much "owned"... More

We stayed in the Coco Ocean for several days in early February.Overall the hotel is in good condition with pleasant staff. But in my opinion it's not 5 star for sure. Firstly be warned about paying your bill by credit card. They converted mine into UK pounds at an appaling rate and then added a 3% surcharge!! On the day... More
