This place is a bit of a blast. It is like staying at somebody's slightly ramshackle family pile in the country which is in fact exactly the case. The owner's family have lived in the grand house for six generations and this is very much a family home where you end up having a home cooked meal (pretty good) with... More

Picked at random on booking.com because it was in the right area for a stop over on the way back to UK. What a gem. Very few rooms. Some in the chateau some in the old stables. Greeted personally by the hostess as we got out of the car and shown personally to our accommodation. Very limited menu for dinner... More

I would highly recommend the Chateau. There is an old world charm about it, and if formality isn't your cup of tea then it might not be the place for you; but personally, it is that that I think made it so appealing. Champagne on the picturesque lawns before dinner and then sitting around a big table eating delicious food... More

This was a one night stop as we drove between the ferry terminal at Calais and an hotel near Bergerac in the Dordogne, and it was a new experience for us and a real pleasure. Our room overlooked the park and was comfortable, through the shower was a bit cramped. The highlight was the excellent evening meal round a large... More

My husband and I were ending a two week vacation in Brittany and Normandy. Unfortunately we booked only one night stay at this lovely Chateau owned by the Marquis and Marquise Herve and Jacquelint Gicquet des Touches. We had very comfortable accommodations, made even more so by the friendliest hospitality of the owners. We were served drinks and appetizers in... More

The place is beautiful, both the chateau and its surrounding park, and it is conveniently located close to the motorway, but that was it for us. Rubbing shoulders with nobility did not seem to be our cup of tea, or perhaps we were not the right kind of guests, but we did not feel particularly welcome. The room was alright,... More

Recently stayed for two nights and greatly enjoyed our experience. A warm welcome was followed by an excellent dinner with a lovely atmosphere created by our hosts. Most guests were there for one night as the location is good for a range of routes to and from France. We stayed an extra night and were pleased we had done so.... More

We were warmly received by a friendly couple. Offered several options for alternative rooms. Drinks and Dinner were beautiful The beds were comfortable. Nothing was any trouble. Jacqueline even showed us around town, the second day. We packed small overnight bags as there were stairs

The Chateau de Sarceaux was such a great find! We were there for only one night. If we only knew how beautiful and quiet the grounds were going to be, we would have stayed longer. A must, is to stay and enjoy dinner. Quiet, clean, historical, away time, fabulous food, helpful and knowledgable owners. A 'Must do' destination.

Stayed for one night en route from Caen ( just one hour 15 away) to south of France. Lovely château, comfortable room and access to grand sitting room. Had tea on terrace on arrival then shared a bottle after while enjoying the evening sun. Walked in the grounds around the lake and had a picnic of our own food. Owners... More
