The Chateau de Sarceaux was such a great find! We were there for only one night. If we only knew how beautiful and quiet the grounds were going to be, we would have stayed longer. A must, is to stay and enjoy dinner. Quiet, clean, historical, away time, fabulous food, helpful and knowledgable owners. A 'Must do' destination.

Stayed for one night en route from Caen ( just one hour 15 away) to south of France. Lovely château, comfortable room and access to grand sitting room. Had tea on terrace on arrival then shared a bottle after while enjoying the evening sun. Walked in the grounds around the lake and had a picnic of our own food. Owners... More

We arrived late (ferry delay) to a lovely comfortable room and woke up to stunning views over the park and a delightful French breakfast. We were made to feel so welcome and relaxed that we decided to stay another night and explored the local area on our bicycles. We had a delicious evening meal with an excellent Bordeaux red and... This was our second visit. We came in September, and then December 2014. What a lovely house!, and the parc, and of course Herve and Jacqueline who are truly kind and excellent hosts. The ambiance of this place is what i would call rare. Every room in the house is steeped in history, but incredibly up to date still...timeless beauty... More

We stopped at this beautiful, family run chateau while traveling to southern Spain. We hadn't booked, but looked on tripadvisor and this came up as number 1 in Alencon. On arrival, we were given a choice of the rooms available. All very comfortable, with clean, modern bathrooms. If you choose to have dinner at the chateau, it will be well... More

We stayed one night in this lovely Chateau, a few kilometres from the city of Alençon. We had booked online which turned out to be a mistake as our room had a mezzanine bathroom which was not suitable as it was accessed by steep stairs. But the helpful staff member on duty was able to change the room as the... More

This was our second stay at Chateau de Sarceaux and we brought friends with us this time. The Chateaux in Valframbert near Alencon is an easy drive and a good stop after leaving the ferry at Caen. However this should not be the reason to stay here. Stay for the delightful Herve and Jacqueline, the delicious suppers and the beautiful... More

My wife and I spent a nite this past week at Chateau. The lodging was nice enough and the inn keeper was polite as well. He was very keen to explain his family royalty to us. My issue was the dinner which was dreadful. For the cost of 53 euros. i expected something better then unseasoned semi warm chicken. The... More

...Of all the nights spent in chateaux and hotels over the years this evening was by far the very best in evey way possible! We four arrived late in the aternoon, parked the car , walked in an open door in the front and saw no one...so we walked around saying 'bonjour'. Finally a gentelman came in and introduced ihmself... I chose this Chateau for our first night of an 8 day road trip through France and we would happily have parked up and stayed for the rest of the holiday! We got to Alençon easily from the Channel Tunnel taking a leisurely drive down via the countryside although it could be reached within about 4hrs if we had stuck... More
