We stayed here for one night and arrived several hours later than we had anticipated (and after dinner had begun) because of traffic and weather problems. The owner greeted us with an umbrella and ushered us into the house, where she had kept our dinner for us. Although our late arrival must have been highly inconvenient for this small hotel,... More

Staying here really is like staying with family - if your family happen to live in a stunning chateau ad really like having guests! The food was delicious, local and home made, the welcome from the owners was exceptional and the chateau itself is very comfortable without being 'hotel sterile'. Comfy beds, good wifi, en suite facilities and character oozing... More

We stayed here for one night on 18th July, for a stop over, before travelling onwards to Charente Maritime. Foremost, it's a family home, and not at all pretentious for that reason. On arrival we were offered a drink by the Marquis and then walked round the beautiful grounds. In the evening, we enjoyed a sumptuous 4 course dinner, with... More

Due to the Tour de France causing traffic chaos in London, an electrical fault in the Eurotunnel and getting lost in Rouen we arrived about 5 hours later than expected. All the aggravation of the journey was immediately forgotten as we pulled up outside the chateau and were greeted by Madame. Even though she was about to retire for the... More

We stayed on our way down to the Dordogne at the beginning of July. Greeted warmly by Madame we were offered a choice of bedroom in the Chateaux. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, interestingly furnished and all have ensuite facilities. We met the other guests for a pre-dinner glass of champagne where our host made sure introductions were made... More

After spending a whirlwind five days in Paris, it was such a relief to relax in a story book setting in the country of Normandy. We wanted to give our two grown daughters a cherished family vacation and the chateau certainly exceeded our expectations. Herve greeted us warmly and then left us to acclimate to the quiet grandeur of his... More

Choosing the location as a stop off on the way to Limoges we were not prepared for the wonderful welcome we got at the Chateau Sarceaux. Arriving very late Madame Jacqualine waited up for us past midnight. The room in the old stable block was fabulous and such a relief after a long drive. Everything was perfect and the next... More

I wanted to have the experience of staying in a beautiful old french chateau so I could feel like I had stepped back in time. We met the owner on his lawnmower down the drive way, he was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The house is beautiful with its full rose bushes and is full of interesting items.... More

I have to admit that as we drove up the long driveway to the chateau that I felt quite nervous. Well it is not everyday you get to stay with the Marquis and Marquise Gicquel des Touches but I really should have not worried. Staying here is like staying with long lost friends - I didn't need to wear my... More

One night at Chateau de Sarceaux is not enough. It is beautiful, quiet, comfortable, elegant and Herve & Jacqueline, the Marquis and Marquise Gicquel des Touches and fabulous hosts. You need to ask very nicely and you might get a wonderful dinner cooked by Jacqueline which was such good value.
