Roop Niwas is a stately home owned by a local aristocratic family, that, like many similar properties across India, has now been reformatted as a hotel/guesthouse for visitors. By all measures it's very successful: good rooms, good food and a swimming pool mean it's firmly on the itinerary of foreign tour groups. And for good reason, for the family who... More

I was with a large group of 13 women and we each absolutely loved this stay! It's more a rustic style stay place--- don't expect the same amenities as a big box hotel--- this is truly a wonderful experience beyond that. The grounds were beautiful, we were sad to leave the staff, the food was delicious! The staff even knew... More

Our room was simple but comfortable. There was an old world charm about this place. The staff was helpful and the food was good. I loved the chickpea omelette! What makes it special is to watch the horses come back to the stables in the late afternoon. A beautiful sight. After that we sat outside and saw the sunset, had... More

it's one of a number of middle-of-the-road hotels which originate from the days of the Raj, then upgraded in the last 10 years or so. It's main attraction is a manager who's been there for 30+ years, and keeps an eye on all that goes on and has some loyal staff. The grounds are very spacious, rooms similarly (but seemingly... Greeted by a friendly staff member in a freezing cold lobby. Room #22 was large no kettle, tea or coffee. Decor reminiscent of the Raj . Need two room heaters and they did not turn on the hot water even when told that we were leaving early the next AM. They "forgot."WiFi only in lobby. Dinner and breakfast average, with... More

We had a fascinating stay at RoopNiwas. We reached in the evening and were immediately settled in into a beautiful and clean and large room with lovely linen and furniture. After a nice tea service we enjoyed ourselves under the star next to a bonfire with ample supply of wood. Had a nice dinner although the spice can be toned... More

Had such an amazing time at Roop Niwas! I think we were one of maybe three parties staying there, very quiet, felt like we had the grounds to ourselves. Jeetu was so friendly and welcoming, and the meals were really great. Loved enjoying a gin and tonic out on their front porch area with the little campfires they lit and... More

This was our favourite hotel during our trip to India. We stayed in the annexe, the rooms were large and had the only decent shower of our entire stay with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. There is no closet to hang clothes but we were only there one night. The screen doors are annoying as they bang loudly... More

On arrival we were shown two rooms--one a tacky, regular room in the main building and the second in the lower-level, old staff quarters area adjacent to the main building. This was despite the fact that there were only three rooms booked the day we arrived. So there must have been other options. Or, maybe all rooms are of this... More

The first thing that hits you is the sheer expanse and greenery of the place. Peacocks move freely as if they were sparrows. It is an extremely well maintained property, staffed by the most courteous and friendly people. It also served the best food by our tastes during our whole North Rajasthan and Jaisalmer trip. The rooms are spacious, well... More
