We are here on holiday staying with family in Darling. After hearing excellent reports we went here for a Sunday lunch. It was devine. We sat in the beautiful rear gardens under the shade of the old oak trees. We had 2 large fillet steaks on a bed of red cabbage, 1 homemade chicken pie and a kingcliip wlth risotto.... More

We thought we had booked the Bistro round the square and when we arrived were a bit disappointed especially as the front looks a little ordinary, however were we in for a surprise when we were taken through into the lovely spacious tree shaded garden with a complimentary glass of bubbly in our hand and over to the guest rooms... Tip top service from the minute we arrived. Smiling faces and a welcoming glass of bubbly greeted us. Fantastic food and a general pleasant vibe throughout the weekend. The room(Tretchikoff) was comfortable which had a view of the swimming pool and outside eating area in the distance. Seeing as it was 35 degrees outside, the swimming pool came in very... More

This place manages to keep a fine balance between super relaxed and meticulous service. The hosts are ever present which is more than you can say about B and Bs in Cape Town and are friendly without being intrusive. The rooms are clean and comfortable with air conditioning if you need it and lead onto a beautiful sitting room area... More

My wife and I stayed at the Red Tin Roof Riebeek Kastile on our visit to the Cape. We were blown away by the hospitality shown by owners Sam and Jacques who personalised our visit. The food was five star and very different and their menus unique and original. If you like South African food, make the effort to visit... More

What a sweet experience, to visit Riebeek Kasteel from Germany. Sam and George are running their lovely Red Tin Roof in such a nice way - the best kept secret in the valley!!!!! Food and Service were just outstanding, like coming home!!!! kind regards from Frankfurt / Germany Richard

The Red Tin Roof brims with character. The new owners - two former investigative journalists, Jacques Pauw and Sam Rogers - have poured their heart, soul and savings into it. It is a unique gastropub and guest house, unlike anything else you'll find in the town. The walls - covered with an eclectic collection of newspaper cuttings and propaganda posters... More

I visited Red Tin Roof in December last year. The establishment had just reopened with new owners, so I was not sure how great the service would be. I was pleasantly surprised. My daughters were warmly welcomed, and both of them spent a wonderful day swimming in the Red Tin Roofs swimming pool. My husband ordered some well priced and... More

After reading about the Red Tin Roof in the latest edition of the Finweek we were quite looking forward to the visit. Unfortunately what was supposed to be a fun day trip turned into a disappointing trip to an establishment whose owners unfortunately have zero people skills and who are ill prepared to run this type of establishment. I called... More

Jacques P, Owner at Red Tin Roof, responded to this review

We are indeed new in this business and putting our hearts and souls into this venture. We made a mistake and we apologize. It is indeed true that when the reviewer arrived, the snoek cakes were no longer available and had not yet been taken off the menu. This should not have happened. When the family arrived a waitress greeted... More
