We had eaten here before, but this was our first overnight stay. This hotel has so much potential - the layout, common areas, bar on the stoep, view from the restaurant, pool and location right in the middle of town are all brilliant. Maxwell, the ever-present barman/waiter/concierge/ambassador of the hotel is a lovely man and keeps the wheels running. What... More

Dear Tal, Thank you for your review and your detailed feedback. Thank you for the compliments and that we could be in the top of the world (we settle for SA for now though). I will also pass on your compliments for Maxwell. Maxwell is not a waiter though but a duty manager and is therefore expected to be in... More

Rob , Sonya and I visited this place with the Harley Davidson Club Cape Town. What a great experience. The service was great. The food excellent. The views breathtaking. I love this place. We shall certainly return soon with the Sunset Riders.

Spent the weekend in this small village and it is ideal from escaping the fast pace of the city or bigger towns. The Royal Hotel is from a bygone era (1882) and retains its charm and character. Whilst the rooms have been renovated in recent years, the lounge and dining/bar are looking a little tired and need a little TLC.... More

Went to this hotel for tea time after a big lunch. This hotel is famous as it has the longest stoep south of the Limpopo, always wanted to know this fact. Walked to the back lawn and what an awesome view of rolling hills and a dam. Should have more chairs and tables in the beautiful garden but it was... More

Lovely place with old world charm. Really enjoyed our stay. Close to all the restaurants and action. Stayed in one of the garden rooms. Very big bed. The price included a wonderful breakfast. Only strange thing was the door handles are very very low :)

The feeling of time travel is what it feels to visit this hotel. The service is really good and the variety of selection, both drinks and food is just never ending almost. Highly recommended for a relaxing visit with a great bar for meeting friends.

Did some wine buying in Riebeek Kasteel and needed a quick lunch! Saw the Royal on TA and decided to give it a go....well I'm satisfied at the experience! Although lunch for one must say the old ambiance and decor welcomed me like the friendly waiters! The menu seem to be very limited... I ordered the fillet and mash which... More

Popped in with friends last week and we all ordered norwegian salmon which was out of this world. Well presented and tasted divine. Great service and good time had by all. Well worth the visit and good value for money

An overdue thank you to Maxwell and Pretty. We checked in March 2015 and the receptionist was unhelpful, perhaps showing off to colleagues whilst learning the role. As a result of this we were about to move on to find another hotel, but the Royal Hotel is so special that we spoke to Maxwell and he was most helpful and... More

We've wanted to stay here for a while and managed a night yesterday. It was a truly splendid experience from the room service club sandwich and antipasto plate on arrival (even though the staff were very busy with Father's Day lunches) to the high quality garden room and superb original food for dinner. A coffee on the stoep was enhanced... More
