Friendly reception as we arrived. Spacious rooms, fabulous bathroom! Breakfast was delicious - every morning. We also enjoyed a wonderful supper on our first night. Beautiful surroundings. Our stay was worth every minute - a 5 star experience indeed!

Stayed 2 nights in February but 1 would have been better. This place should be full but on the 2nd night at dinner there was only one other couple in a cold and draughty dining area. However back to the check- in whereupon once again the room isn't ready so what better than to sit on the stoep and partake of... More

Dear Jean B, We regret that you did not fully enjoy your stay with us. Although the TV's in the rooms are build-in we are in the process of changing them for flat screens. The toilet room of the bathroom of room 1 is not adjacent to any other room or bathroom. We have not had any leaking problems before... More

We stopped in Riebeek Kasteel for the weekend of 13 March as part of a wedding celebration. The Royal Hotel was a great choice due to its location (on the main road) and its facilities. Great rooms, service and a clean pool to cool down on a warm boland summer day. An "Inverroche" G&T on the "stoep" is a must!!... More

Stayed at The Royal for just a couple of nights while visiting wine farms and wineries of The Swartland. Lovely people, everyone was so welcoming and helpful and it was a great place to stay, with beautiful views front and back, a nice garden and an amazing stoep to enjoy a pre drink or two while watching the comings and... We stayed for a night at the beautiful Royal Hotel whilst visiting our niece and her husband, and we're really pleasantly surprised at the charm if this hotel. Rooms are stunning, service is great. And although I did not gave the G&T, I did have the vodka and tonic on the stoep, which is a great place for sundowners. We... More

The Gin & Tonics served at this hotel are a total rip off. The gin costs R15 per tot however the "Fever Tree" (never heard of this brand) tonic water costs R32 per unit which = a grand total of R45.00 per G&T making the tonic more expensive than the gin??? The drink is served in a huge cognac glass... More

Dear Patti, Thank you for your review. I find it very unfortunate that you did not enjoy your G&T experience with us. Especially since it is one of the things we are famous for. I apologize if our staff did not inform you well enough. To discuss the price of a G&T is not easy as we have probably the... More

Rather by surprise we stayed in this truly remarkable hotel (courtesy of its great special offer after 4 pm!! - otherwise it would have been outside our budget, honestly. The history of the ROYAL HOTEL is astonishing, the set-up and setting are amazing. We stayed in room No. 1: never have seen a bed that large (marked as an island... More

While staying with family in Cape Town we had a wonderful day trip out to look around this area of Riebeek Kasteel and come upon The Royal Hotel as our relatives had been here before. The veranda was the only area of this fabulous building that we were lucky enough to enjoy for a glorious chilled drink of wine but... More

The Royal hotel in Riebeek Kasteel was a bit of a surprise as most Royal hotels in South Africa are not like this one. Rooms were great, the ambience was relaxing. The food was plentiful and well presented, don't miss the breakfast !! The best is sat on the veranda drinking Gin and Tonic which the hotel is famous for,... More

The Royal Hotel, simply the best. with our family we have had a wonderful time in the south of Africa visiting the best hotels advised by Centurion/ AMEX. Except from the royal hotel in Riebeek Kasteel! this hotel was the best we have been to. The atmosphere, the hospitality, the service, the rooms, breakfast (with a starter, main course and... More
