We stayed here for two nights as a base for exploring this region of Limousin. Very warm welcome. Great food and company. We stayed in the main building but there are also gites in the grounds. Would thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed here for one night as part of a driving holiday through France. This place is simply stunning in every respect. The owners and staff gave a very warm welcome. Our room was beautiful with fabulous floorboards and an excellent bathroom. The grounds are amazing, with the ruined tower and delightful chapel. I wish we could have spent more... More

An amazing place, with wonderful hospitality. the place has everything to get away from the city. I experienced great days of relaxation! I am a foody, the diners prepared by Martijn and served in front of the big fireplace.. I believe that says enough. The rooms are magnificent and the area is great for walks and activities to get peace-of-mind,... More

One single word to describe the experience of staying at Abbaye - a harmony. And it is absolutely in everything over there, but especially the owners who created a such an ambiance. Thank you for the wonderful stay and for the service of sending me my forgotten pillow. A special word about breakfast - heavenly good!!!

I don't normally write reviews, but this is special. We stayed enroute to Spain and it was so good we decided to book it again on our return. The balance Saskia and Martjin have struck between a family house and hotel is brilliant, the place is stunning (I did 16 paintings in 2 days), Martjin's cooking was perfectly judged (delicate,... It is impossible to praise this chambre d'hote too highly. Think of your memories of the holidays you had as a child, that unspoilt world of innocence you thought was now gone forever. Here, in the wooded hills of the Limousin, is that little piece of the world that time forgot. Somehow the charming Dutch couple who own the Abbaye... More

Found by chance and wished we could have stayed longer. Beautiful old building wonderful hosts great food simple but charming room Dinner round a big table in the garden with 17 guests was like a country house party. we really hope to go back. Would point out that it is very very popular with families as loads of grounds for... More

We stayed 2 nights in this quite remote but historical B and B. The Dutch hosts were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our room was directly above the dining room and with old floorboards the noise could be heard from below. We stayed in the Chambre du Parc (see photo) decorated in the French style. The meal in the evening... More
