Stayed dinner , bed and breakfast in a superior room. Quality of room really excellent, stylish, a wonderful mix of modern and traditional. Superb bathroom. Food quality was excellent and the manager is very pleasant. It is on the main street through the town and there are some nice little shops and cafes. Parking right outside the hotel. Dinner service... More

We had gone away on a last minute break and choose this hotel for our first night, after reading reviews on here. Well what can I say, It certainly deserves its place of no1 hotel in Dumfries & Galloway. We paid extra for a superior room and it was just lovely. With lots of little touches that make it special. The... More

Stayed for 3 nights with our little dog. Our room was lovely and clean - perhaps not the biggest we have stayed in but the bathroom made up for it being almost as big as the bedroom. Alastair was always there to check that everything was ok and when they said they would do something or get something - they... More

Booked this hotel on an offer and we weren't disappointed. Just to repeat what others have already said, the room was a good size with big comfy bed, lovely bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries and fabulous shower. We had a room at the front of the hotel but slept very well with minimal noise. The lounge bar and restaurant were... More

My wife and I recently stayed at the Buccleuch Arms and Queensberry Hotel in Thornhill with my elderly mother on the occasion of her birthday as she wanted to revisit a nearby village where she'd grown up. We had the Queensberry and Bowhill Rooms on the first floor of the hotel overlooking the main street at the front. Both rooms... More

Got this on offer and it far exceeded our expectations. we were travelling with parents who needed an easy access room. This was in a separate annex at the back of the hotel and was spacious and clean, with lovely fittings and fixtures. The only downside to this room was it was next to the beer garden but my parents... More

Got this on an offer, we were already up in Northern england, so this extended our break. Hotel very nice, rooms excellent, food superb cordon bleu standard. Staff of young ladies are a delight of efficiency and courtesy. Good beer as well which shows how they look after the details. Incidentally, the best shower i have had in this country,... More

I would only be repeating what others have said, this place is wonderful! We had only booked this the day before as we didn't know where we would be in our travels, so glad we did. We sat and had drinks in the lounge, always someone to talk to, such a friendly place. Meals beautiful, staff excellent. If we get... More

We arrived at reception and after a brief wait we were checked in by a friendly and courteous young lady. This set the tone for the rest of our stay, the staff were excellent. I was impressed by the attention to detail in our room. The toiletries were of a high standard, still and sparkling water were supplied, there was... More
