We loved the location and although the room is plain it was wonderful- clean, comfortable, everything we needed. The grounds are spectacular. The staff at the reception were warm and welcoming; the wait staff, Jose and another very nice young man, did a great job; all other staff we saw were friendly. The temp was cool at night. Breakfast was... More

Nice and quiet place, for those who loves the nature. Natural spring water in the swimming pool. Great food at the restaurant, vegans friendly. I love the felafel. The service were very good. Nice trail to take a morning walk and read a book seating down the trees. Lovely experience, hammock in the balcony nice to birdwatching.

When the owner is the caretaker/gardner/yoga instructor/supervisor, nothing good can come of this or something's will go south! I can understand that he enjoys gardening and yoga but unless all things are running smoothly from the kitchen to overall service, he should be playing the administrator role, overseeing the facility as a whole. This place needs a manager! When we... More

We recently stayed for 2 nights in Casa Grande in Utuado, which is in the mountain region - so rain followed us most part of the afternoon. @ the hotel it has a few hiking trails - so hiking boots/sneakers are a plus. It is totally a retreat hotel, so be aware of what to expect- i was stress free,... More

This is summer camp for grown ups. I stayed there in June in between weekends at resorts in Rio Grande and San Juan. What I wanted was peace and quiet, so lack of Internet and phones were fine by me. It's a retreat, not a spa, don't look for amenities, look to unwind and power down.

The hour or more of driving through winding switchbacks to reach the retreat was well worth it for the experience. If you are looking for 5-star accommodations, blazing fast internet speeds, or air conditioning, find someplace else. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind experience, friendly people and the kind of peace and serenity that all too difficult to find... More

I have never written a review before, mostly because I haven't felt it necessary to take the time to reiterate others' comments. However, this time I feel it is imperative. Our stay ar Casa Grande was wrong on so many levels its worthy of comment. To begin with, a tropical storm was headed to the island and as locals, we... More

If you come to Casa Grande expecting spa-like conditions in the PR mountains, you came to the wrong place. If you want a great, incredibly quiet, and comfortable base for exploring the mountains and caves, this is a good choice. My family stayed two nights to allow for exploring the region. We were pleasantly surprised by the cool evening and... More
