My husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the Riu Palace the week of September 27th through October 4th. This is our fourth trip to St. Maarten but this is the first time we have stayed on the French side. We rented a car from the airport which I highly recommend doing as we liked traveling all over... I had stayed here when the hotel was owned by radisson. I was looking forward to coming back here even with the name change. When I checked in I asked for a nice view, they said no problem if you wish to pay another 40 dollars more. I said no thanks as I was only staying for one night. the... More

This is very nice charming resort with small beach and very large swimingpool. Rooms are big and comfortable, good gym and restaurant. Yes, this is far from "the rest of the island" but it is beautiful place silent and with easy access to Pinel Island, not far from orient beach and grand case. I liked this place and would like... I have to disclose my/my wife's profile first for our kind of travelers to be targeted properly as resorts may not be one-fit-for-all. We love exclusivity; We want to be left alone, but when we need something everybody has to be all about us; Cleanliness is a must; We love luxury, but always look for bargains; Small details might be... Location This property was out in the boonies. From what I recall, it was a 30 minute drive from the airport. You have to go up and over a pretty steep, green, lush hillside which overlooks a few beaches. It seemed crazy to drive up the hill the first time but I got used to it after a while. Since... More

The staff was fun and professional, the rooms had beautiful views, and the grounds were amazing. Breakfast was delicious and we looked forward to it every morning. The Palace is secluded enough to allow for peace and quiet, but not so much so that it was impossible to enjoy the quaint town as well. One can rent jetskis and kayaks... More

This is a follow-up to my earlier review in which I described how I was having issues with getting back my unused deposit. I am happy to report the issue was resolved. After personally calling the hotel's front desk and explaining what was happening, the clerk transferred me to their accounting department. They took down my information and within 2... More

The hotel was a bit of a drive from the airport. However, the beach and pool were very nice and my kids enjoyed it very much... The rooms were comfortable but the view would have been much nicer if it was of the beach. There are no rooms with beach views apparently. The voltage was an issue as even though... More

Under Radisson and a previous owner, this has for years been a lovely, off the beaten path, fantastic-in-every way resort. When we were there in April, the staff was abuzz with the Riu rumors and they, like us, were not optimistic about an all-inclusive model. The appeal of the area surrounding the hotel is that it has some of the... More
