We were here on honeymoon years ago and returned recently. It remains a phenomenal spot for a romantic breakaway! We stayed in the Thunderstone thatched rondavel, fantastic huge bed with feather duvet and fireplace. Big enough that you never feel claustrophobic even when the weather outside is cold, nice comfortable couches and a selection of books to entertain. I suggest... More

This is a magical place. Everything from the tree avenues to lounging on the porch while looking out on the valley created a wonderful ambiance. I don't use the adjective "spiritual" easily, but at The Edge that is really the vibe that I got. Om op die rand van die krans te wees en te kan aanvoel hoe die weer... More

This was my first trip back to Hogsback in more than twenty years. Still a beautiful getaway, far off the beaten track. We chose The Edge for its magnificent views and decent self-catering pricing. Our cottage was comfortable and spacious, with a small but practical fireplace . The beds were snug and comfortable, although our unit did not have electric... More

A beautiful venue with a variety of accommodation to choose from. We stayed in Cliffside which was well stocked with the necessary utensils and very spacious. The view is spectacular and the double fire place, electric blankets and heated towel rails a very welcome addition in the cold Eastern Cape winter. The magnificent labyrinth on the property is stunning and... More

Stayed here, and could not ask for a more beautiful, scenic, breathtaking views. The room was good.... but really you stay here for the phenomenal, breathtaking views. It was worth the hassle in finding the place. Would direct anyone to this place.-- I trvelled there a few years back, not sure what if anything has changed. Needed to put a... More

The cottage we got was lovely. Nice electric blankets, feather duvets and fire place and sherry. It is a self catering unit but as we were only gonna be there one night we opted to eat at the restaurant. I cannot remember that I ever had such bad food. Menu had good choices but quality was bad. The waiter could... More

Hogsback is a special little piece of heaven, a veritable jewel in the crown of the already exquisite Amatola mountain range. It is an ideal getaway for any person wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Visit it in spring to experience more shades of green than even the most creative artist could imagine, while in... More

We visited the edge riding Harley Davidsons and the road in and out is really not suited to a motorbike. It was difficult to find and certainly off the beaten track a little. However once there it was an enjoyable stay. The rooms are spread out and some are over 109 meters from the check in and restaurant area which... More

Cliffside cottage is great. It is big and has lovely views when the mist clears. But be warned... go and enjoy the view immediately when you find it clear - the mist rises very quickly and it changes from clear view to white-out in minutes. The food in the restaurant was very good. Our only complaint was that the wood... More
