We celebrated Christmas 2014 in one of the self catering chalets at Arminel Hotel and had a feast. The hotel could not accommodate us for the Christmas meal so we did our own thing for which the beautiful luxury chalet, surrounded by a beautiful garden provided the ideal setting and it ended up a memorable family occasion. The hotel staff... More

The self catering unit are large and spacious with beautiful views over the gardens. Central to the village its a great stop for any travellers. However the food is very average and I would rather not eat at the hotel.

It was my first stop on a 2 week country through South Africa. The hotel is set in a beautiful garden setting with a few steps to the entrance - a good old fashioned country hotel. On arrival I was met and booked in very efficiently but not welcoming. My room was adequate with a bath and shower separate -... More

The hotel was stunning. Rooms large but cold cos it was snowing. However we made the most of the snow by having huge fires, massages, karaoke that kept us indoors. It was my first time in snow.. And we had ice bucket challenge, kids making snowman etc.Small excursion to the 39 steps waterfall and the little craft shops. We went... More

This hotel is more like a 2 star than 3. While the setting and gardens are pretty the rooms are in dire need of an upgrade. The bathroom was shabby, old and tired. The food, off a set menu, made me feel like I was back at boarding school. The staff were friendly enough but did not go out of... More

We had a great few days in Hogsback. The chalets are very comfortable and clean. Big swimming pool and beautiful gardens on the Arminel estate. Staff at the hotel reception were very helpful and had a great time. Hogsback adventures a great place to rent bikes and experience the area.

The Chalets at Hogsback village are really awesome, the gas fires service from staff,bedding/linen and other stuff provided are top class plus not to mention the complimentary champers and fruit bowl, provided. The meals/service at the Arminel hotel are also of the highest standard and the service in general

We had a pleasant one night stay in the Hogsback and the Arminel was very adequate but it did not make me want to come back again - no 'wow' factor. This tends to be a problem with commercial hotels where for some reason they lack a certain passion. The rooms were passable and clean, facilities reasonable, food good but... More

This hotel , of the few places we have stayed at in Hogsback, is the most professional establishment. We have stayed here four times this year en route to the Wild Coast. We love the location and quiet of this hotel....the gardens are beautiful and their own forest walk is a treat and right THERE to enjoy. And then the... More

Was a great little place to overnight on route to Port St Johns - Felt a bit like a time travel back to the 70's when one was sitting in the dining room - the food was excellent and extremely friendly staff! Dinner bed and breakfast rate was well worth it! Very well situated - lovely pool area and gorgeous... More
