We recently spent a week in New Abbey and ended up eating at the Abbey Arms every evening. The food was always good and in particular the 'Sticky Ginger Pudding', while not made on the premises like everything else, was excellent. A word of appreciation to Dana too who usually, single-handed ran the public bar, took all food orders from... More

Stopped for lunch and we were greeted with a smile and welcome. Lunch was excellent and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Have new Guinness system which they showed to my husband - not often done in pubs

the room was very big bed was two singles joined together, the bathroom was huge but the shower was tiny. The tv had no remote in the room we didn't bother to ask as should have been given it if this was the case. Very friendly young lady on the bar food was very good and the breakfast was lovely... The place needs a general sprucing up. Dark corridors with dated decors. Rooms have all the basics you need, comfortable bed and with tea/coffee facilities. The shower is not brilliant, the water is struggling to come out. TV control is either old or batteries need changing. Be aware, the car park is not marked, but it seems it is easy... More

The menu outside on a big blackboard looked good and the place looked nice, but door locked and bell not answered. ???? This was 1pm. Perhaps they had closed for lunch! Now, reading some of these reviews I'm pleased we had to go elsewhere.

We stayed for three nights to use the inn as a base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. The room which had all the amenities one would expect was comfortable on the top floor overlooking lovely rustic buildings and mature gardens. The kitchen, bar and house keeping we're run by an efficient team of competent friendly people. We also enjoyed the... More

Really had a great time here. Staff were lovely and very helpful and so friendly. Hotel is old and quirky but very comfortable. Food was super with lots of choice. Bed rooms were warm and welcoming. Tea, coffee, milk, sugar and sweets were on the tray as well as biscuits. Will be going back soon hopefully.

My family recently stayed at the Abbey Arms Hotel to attend a wedding nearby. We were very impressed with the friendly staff on arrival and the rooms were clean and tidy with coffee and tea making facilities. The rooms were large and beds so comfortable. We all had a good nights sleep! The following morning our arranged lift to collect... More

Booked for four nights some time before travelling and then was a little concerned by some of the reviews. However needn't have been. Room was comfortable with tv, tea/coffee/biscuits and ensuite shower etc. Decent menu with good quality food - some dishes not available but I wouldn't criticise much for that in a small place and there was always a...
