We washed up here, having booked in further up the lane, but unable to stay.... found Tina who laughed at our red faces, having just walked in from the mid day heat with rucksacks. She was an absolute star and checked her spaces and was able to put the 4 of us up in 2 cabanas. They were basic but... More

Myself and my daughter arrived to Rancho Tranquilo as part of a volunteer trip to help ICAPO's project in the Padre Ramos Reserve. Rancho Tranquilo is a rustic beach hostel that had us feeling at home from the minute we pulled in. About 8 km from highway 12 on a dirt road to Jiquilillo. A bright purple gate and hanging... More

I stayed in a private cabin here with my mom, both beds had mosquito nets and were fairly comfortable. The cabins are great, but so basic - just some bamboo nailed together with a grass roof. Nice and homey, everyone generally eats and hangs out together. The fishing village itself is really small and cool to walk through, especially in... More

I loved it here! Tina is so great and the vibe is good even when there are only a few guests. The food is AMAZING and such good prices, literally the best food I ate in the whole country. Right on the beach so watch the sunset over the sea every night with a drink. It's a bit of a... More

I remember reading a review of someone who called this place Rancho Loco. It really cracked me up and honestly, it is a little loco but in the kind of way that makes you want to stay because you are surrounded by friendly, goofy people who know how to have a good time. We spent the majority of our time... More

I absolutely loved staying at Rancho Tranquilo! This place has an amazingly chill atmosphere, and not to mention an amazingly chill hostess, Tina. A little crazy, but honestly so welcoming, warm, loving and loveable! Went here for a weekend, and got to get away for real. The beach is endless, and the best part is that there are (almost) no tourists.... More

This is such a cute place! Tina, the owner is the friendliest woman you'll ever meet, albeit a little bit special, but this was part of the charm. It's very quiet and peaceful, perfect if what you want is a relaxing time at the beach, but there are also a lot of fun things to do. We rented horses one... More

I kept seeing the info for Rancho Tranquillo in places in Leon and I kept wondering if I should go. I'm so glad I did. It's so quiet there, peaceful but a real sense of community amongst the guests, likely because of the gracious hostess Tina. It can be fun too- some nights people just sing and dance around the... There are only a very few places to stay on Playa Jiquilillo. Rancho Tranquillo is the one furtherest to the north. The surf is good, and the beach here is wonderful, and goes on for miles. It has a real deserted beach feel. Rancho Tranquillo serves only vegetarian food. But unlike the really popular hostel 1km south, it has a... More

Rancho Tranquillo was a perfect getaway with a very friendly and laid-back atmosphere. The proprietor, Tina, is a world class character with a knack for making people feel Rancho Tranquillo is a home away from home from the moment they arrive. The clientele are mostly people who are well traveled, especially in Central and South America. It was a very... More
