Though San Jose was a bit of a disappointment, Santuario was very satisfactory. Close enough to the beach, well one of them. And within walking distance to dining. Unfortunately they were resurfacing their patio right outside our room. The odor was less than pleasing, and because of it, they closed their resturant for the time we were there. I would... More

Golden Buddhas, Persian rugs and Indonesian furniture make up the lobby of Santuario San José, add a smiling and friendly reception staff, clean and basic rooms, comfortable beds and you have a lot more for your cash than a 'hostel'. Included breakfast was typical 'continental style'. Yoghurts and cereal, pain-au-chocolate and croissants, brown and white rolls and bread. The usual... More

Both the day and night staff were exceptionally helpful and kind. The buffet breakfast was always fresh and generous---and coffee was prepared to order. They have highchairs (seems like a small thing, but it's a huge plus as few restaurants in town do)! The rooms are rather standard and the bed coverings are, perhaps, a bit dated...but overall, our experience... More

More

Its the staff that make the difference at this spotlessly clean well positioned hostal. Nothing is too much trouble. We booked out of season so the restaurant wasn't open but the simple breakfast offered buffet style was all we needed and eggs were cooked to order. Also the coffee was individually prepared from a machine (not a dreaded glass jug)... More

The friendly hardworking staff did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable and we cannot praise them enough. By UK standards this is certainly more than a hostal. It is spotlessly clean and comfortable and well located in a quiet street just a few yards from the centre of San José and we had no problem parking on the street... More

Lovely, clean hotel with excellent staff who are on hand to help at any time. Just a short walk to the beach and yards away from nice bars / restaurants. Breakfast is fresh and plentiful. San Jose itself is a beautiful resort - we went out of season and it looks like it would be much livelier in the summer... More

A small, tasteful, clean hotel. Very well located - just a few minutes walk from the beach, on a quiet street. The staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast as good as in four-star hotel. It's a perfect place to take a rest.

Had a lovely stay in Santuario during our time in San Jose. Great location: not right on the beach but a short walk to it. Run by some very nice hardworking people who cant do enough to make your stay pleasant!

We couldn't fault Santuario. We had a good sized room. The breakfast was delicious. The location is fantastic - within walking distance from San Jose's restaurants, shops, bars and beaches. There is free car parking for hotel guests. This hotel is a great option for couples and families.
