My partner and I stayed at this hotel last night, for just one night. In general I would agree with most other reviewers. The hotel was chosen because of it's age and outside it did not disappoint, however inside was rather 'tired'. We were in room 16 (the foot of the tower) and luckily are able-bodied and had just one... more

Stayed there for a romantic evening with my wife and it was generally a pleasant stay. The Flowers, Champaign and Chocolates package was good value the flowers where lovely and the Champaign pretty good. The four poster bed was comfortable and the room a good size. The furnishings and bathrooms really need a re-vamp. Eat in the restaurant in the... more

The stone parts of the building look wonderful, but that's as good as it gets. We lugged our case up to our room (no lift, porter service not offered, and the signage didn't seem to take us the quickest way). This journey included one or two wobbly steps on the stairs that a less nimble punter might have been injured... more

We stayed at Hotel de la Bere for one night in July and it was a good experience. The hotel looks lovely, the grounds are great and it does have a 'wow' factor. The rooms had lots of character and charm - they're not modern so are not slick or that stylish but we thought that this really added to... more

Stayed at this hotel twice in July while attending a training event being held there. Previous reviews pretty accurate - beautifull property and location, needing a little TLC at 3star or a refit to become a stunning 5 star. 3 rooms assessed - Origionaly booked into a single which was below standard - B&B Guesthouse style room, split level, very... more

I love this hotel, so pretty, the location is amazing, bunnies hop freely around and in the morning white doves were fluttering around (may have come from wedding!) I can imagine it getting quite cold there in winter though as the window in our room didn't really shut as was so old. I only had breakfast, fry up was nice,... more

The photographs oh the hotel website looked promising and indeed the grounds and the external aspect of this ancient dwelling are glorious particularly on a summer's evening. That is pretty much as good as it gets. The inside of the hotel is just worn out. This is not a Relais & Chateau hotel. I had a single room which was... more

One night stay:The buldings and grounds are breathtaking, but the interior needs some serious TLC and general cleaning and decorating. Our bathroom extractor fan didn't work and the bedroom window wouldn't open so our room was like a sauna on the hottest night of the year so far! When we told reception, the response was 'Oh dear...' Paintwork is scruffy... more

Booked a while ago for anniversary. Fantastic hotel, no problems, apart from the hot water as the shower only worked sometimes as pressure was low. But unless you have 4 or 5 showers a day!! then you really dont notice we stayed in a room with a bay window which had a four poster and a little seating area by... more

After reading lots of good and some bad reviews I wanted to say we had a great time here- you have to understand its owned by a Budget chain buts its a beautiful old building and since its mostly timber frame it will creak - a lot!! There are lots of the old features and the gardens and parking are... more
