My wife and I visited after a week of volunteering at the air tattoo. The room was well proportioned and clean. The food was excellent, with both the evening meal and breakfast surpassing expectation. They have a good selection of real ales (5 on tap) using many local breweries. We will definitely visit again

We stayed here fora weekend as my friend was getting married at the local farm. The check inn was easy even though it was later at night, we had a table reserved in the pub for food. The food was great and the pub busy, the service was good and my husband assures me the choice of ales was excellent.... More

Eaten at this lovely country pub before and loved it. Came back this time and stayed over night. Very comfortable rooms and the breakfast was oustanding. What fantastic staff! Nothing was too much trouble and they were friendly and full of smiles :) Will definitely be returning!

A lovely pub with great food and atmosphere in the main (old) area. Staff were absolutely lovely and helpful and 10 of us had a great meal Saturday night (4 couples staying). The accommodation block is at the rear and, while very clean and comfortable, is modern and a little utilitarian. Choices for vegetarians a bit limited, especially at breakfast... More

We had visited before but took some friends here for 3 days over Easter. We were all very impressed with the accommodation, the food and the extremely helpful and friendly staff. A very pleasant atmosphere, gorgeous log fire, superb food and (according to my other half) very good ales! The accommodation has been upgraded since we last visited and the... More

We stayed here on Friday evening 28th March . We arrived approx 3.30. pm and were immediately impressed by the attitude of the young staff. We eat there in the evening and had a smashing meal for a reasonable price. The place was crowded with locals enjoying a nice range of real ales which was lovely and complete with log... More

Stayed one night in mid-March on recommendation of an ancestor. Well actually, a Great, Great Grandfather was publican there, back in the mid-1800's. The Crown is full of olde worlde character in the main building and has a more modern annexe with accomodation that is very comfortable and reasonably priced. We had booked into the restaurant and were not disappointed.... More

Could only stay for a single night on this occasion, but had a fantastic time. The location is a quiet village. Our room was spacious clean and comfortable. The pub itself is steeped in character, open fires and low ceilings. Food was wonderful, excellent quality and generous portions. Beer also very good. Excellent value for money. Will be back for... A tale of 2 reviews - stayed a year ago & had a comfy room with pretty pictures on the walls & a nicely tiled, fitted out bathroom. No complaints. This time, however... Ok so it was a very late booking but I got the impression that I had been given the 'last' room (ie not used unless busy) but... More
