2 days after my best friend's wedding I'm reflecting on what an ideal venue the Dark Barn was for such a special occasion. The decorations we left had been put up perfectly, the tables looked great and the food was delicious. A very special day, thanks to you and your staff Julian for making it so lovely and run so... My son and I stayed for 4 nights in separate rooms. On arrival the member ofmstaff that greeted us was attentive and both rooms clean and well presented. At breakfast times the service and food by the one restaurant member of staff were just fine. So far no complaints at all. That said the rest of our experience was just... More

My husband and I stopped off here for lunch whilst on a short break in the area having been attracted by a "gastro pub" sign outside. We both chose a chip basket, one with veggie burgers and the other with fish gougons. The chips were acceptable (though definately not what you'd expect at a gastro pub) but the veggie burgers... Good food (evening & breakfast). Very quiet. A fantastic view of the heavens (lots of stars) as there is no lighting interference from surrounding towns or villages.

I thoroughly recommend The Dark Barn. Lovely spacious and quiet room. The hotel staff were warm and welcoming, and the coffee shop serves a great cafe latte. I ordered porridge for breakfast, and was asked how I prefer it (runny or more solid!) There is a great 'can do' attitude here. Nothing was too much trouble, and the ambience of... More

We Highly recommend the Dark Barn. From the initial call to make the booking through to the checking out of the room was a 5* experience. I called and spoke to Linda to arrange our booking for the room. We attended a wedding here and it was perfect. From the politeness and helpfulness of the management to the gold star... More

I visted the Dark Barn last month as I was working in Ross on Wye and had found the DarkBarn via laterooms. The setting was just idylic when I arrived, not even our typically "English" weather could spoil the setting. As I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly member of staff in the newly refurbished Gastro-pub and directed... More

I used to stay here on a regular basis during the Spring and Summer of 2011 with a work colleague. Enjoyed the visits so much that when I visited the Forest of dean with my wife in September we stayed for two nights. It was most enjoyable. Good food in the Gastrpub, comfortable rooms, lovely setting in the countryside. Linda... More

I called to sort payment for a double room as it is a friends wedding in afew months. My partner is the bestman so was obvious we were more than keen to stay over night. As they wanted credit card details I explained neither of us own a Credit card so could we sort some other method of payment. I... More

After a very stressful year including bereavement and illness, we just wanted a quiet New Years Eve, before visiting friends in Gloucester, on New Years Day. On arrival we had problems with the Door Keycard which had to be reset before we could even get into our room/chalet.The room was cold - no heating on whatsoever (the rooms are converted... More
