“Pleasant but uninspiring hotel”

Having spent 8 hours on the road I was firmly told that one couldn't check in before 6.00pm which was annoying. The room itself was very pleasant though with a view over the garden. Lovely hotel with excellent food in a small town (1800 people) in a remote Normandy area where there are beautiful walks. We chose this as a half way stop ver en route to the Dordogne, the reception on a rrival from the owner was poor, however once we had assured her that our "breakfast request" would be lodged by 8 that night she cheered up a bit and showed us the family room which we had booked.
