If you like nature and hiking and returning in the evening to a confortable and beautiful house, this is a great place! Peter Jan provides you with maps and descriptions for scenic hikes in the Sierra. The houses have everything you need, the area is quiet and peaceful and your hosts give you any information and support you need for... More

We really enjoyed our week in El Aguila recently, and our holiday was everything we wanted. Molino Rio Alajar is beautifully situated in a small valley and we were able to explore the pretty local countryside on foot straight from the front door using the hiking trails prepared by Peter. After all that exertion, it was lovely to have a... More

Plus Friendly hosts, lovely setting, friendly animals. Minus Terrible VERY NARROW road in, really nail biting, wing mirrors need to be pulled in and your breath. La Ciguena is NOT suitable for young children, very high and large gapped staircase with poor child gates. Ours broke on the first day. August room temperature is 31 degrees with two fans available.... More

Molino Rio Alajar is situated a few miles from the small town of alajar in the sierra aracena. It is a very beuatiful part of Spain, largely untouched by tourists. We were there in the middle of August and although hot it was still very pleasant, with green lawns and a decent swimming pool. There are a number of traditionally... More

Beautifully renovated cottages in a "shabby chic" style. Four adopted dogs who will steal your hearts (and your food), goat bells tinkering in the distance, donkeys braying for attention, this is an animal lovers delight. Big, fat Iberian pigs can be seen everywhere feeding off acorns. You can then go and eat them (the pigs, not the acorns) in the... More

This is the second year in a row I have been to the area if Aracena. This time we stayed here with the three kids. It was heaven. Very high quality rustic villas with a setting of pure tranquility. Our hosts were fantastic and the other families all very friendly and warm. (made some very nice friends, which made the... More

Peter and monica are lovely hosts and are happy to provide all things locally. Scenery is stunning fantastic walks and a nice pool to come back to. Great if you like dogs as the... More

My husband - and 2 dogs -are just back after spending 3 nights at Molino Rio Alajar and what a fantastic relaxing time we have had! The cottages are great ( beds a bit small for our liking! ) but apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Monica and Peter were around if we wanted them and we appreciated the... More

We stayed at the Molino Rio Alajar in February of this year (21st-27th). We had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Molino is in an idyllic setting. The cottages are most attractive and full of character. We stayed in La Tortuga and it was spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. The underfloor heating was great! Monica and... More

My search for the real Spain took me to the Sierra de Aracena - a natural park about an hour’s drive north of Seville. Alajar is a town situated in the middle of the park and nestles below a place of pilgrimage for many other towns and villages in the area – the Pena de Arias Montano. I stayed at... More
