First class dinning experience with exquisite local produce in very relaxed atmosphere. If you are staying in one of the local self catering/B&B don't miss it - but do book in advance it was obvious that word is spreading on the evening we were there.

Beautiful setting and view. Elgol is truly a special place to visit. Coruisk house is stunning. The bed is a little creaky and so are the stairs (beauty of sound is in the ear of the beholder) and a few doors slam, but this is soon forgotten when you absorb the beauty around you and fall asleep after the excitement... Wow ! On so many levels this night was the highlight of trip around Scotland. Skye is dramatically beautiful and Elgol stands out as the place we will remember most amoung many good memories. It is impossible to say whether the food or the hospitality was the better as teh combination made for such a relaxing stay that we can't... More

I wish we had been able to stay longer at this magical cottage. We booked both charming rooms for one night. Our dinner here was nothing short of extraordinary - so fresh, so respectful of pure local ingredients, and so delicious and expertly prepared. The mussels were beyond heavenly. Clare made us feel so welcome and cared for, lighting a... More

We stayed with Clare and Iain for two nights in the Four Poster Bedroom and had a wonderful time. Very cosy room with a very comfy bed! We had very good breakfast and we enjoyed wonderful dinner both nights (we are still talking about the lobster!). Clare and Iain are friendly hosts who show that they really care about their... More

Highly recommended. Menu changes daily and features just one or two entrees that are handcrafted and made with local ingredients. There's a reason the restaurant has only three tables and requires reservations - it's a very personal experience!

We were recommended to dine at Coruisk House from a local and it didn't disappoint. Clare was a brilliant host and rather an expert on wine - her suggestion went perfectly with the meal. The food was absolutely outstanding, and having dined at The Three Chimneys the day before, I have to say the Coruisk House beats it hands down.... More

We ate here as part of staying elsewhere in Elgol and wished we had stayed here also. We dined as part of our Skye Trail/Cuillin journey and this provided a slice of tranquility after a long wet day walking from Sligachan. The menu was beautifully thought through with an excellent wine selection. The locally sourced ingredients were combined into beautifully... More

It was a luxurious treat to stay here for 2 nights on our holiday. Everything is of the highest quality ...the rooms and house are beautifully decorated with a lovely sitting room to relax in after dining. Iain's food was simply amazing, tasted the loveliest wine thanks to Clare's knowledge and we were made to feel very welcome and looked... More

The best I can say is that on the last of our four nights at Coruisk House we spent quite some time working out how soon we could come back, and how we could get there more directly. Clare and Iain are wonderful hosts, and I'd have to describe Coruisk House as more of a two bedroom Five Star hotel... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Coruisk House is the Restaurant with Rooms in Elgol. It is situated in the tiny but stunning fishing village of Elgol. Elgol harbour overlooks Loch Scavaig towards the most spectacular view on the Isle of Skye - towards the Cuillin Ridge. Boat trips are available from Elgol Harbour between March to October for visits to Loch Coruisk and the islands of Soay, Rum and Canna (Iain and Clare will book the boat trips for their guests). Outside of these months, and weather dependent, boat trips are available by prior arrangement but guests should enquire well in advance of their visit. The area is renowned for spectacular scenery and is beloved of photographers and artists. There are many amazingly scenic walks that can be made from the house or just a short drive away. There are two rooms for guests at Coruisk House, each with views over towards the Sleat peninsula. Each room has a king size bed (one is a four poster), en-suite shower room and tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms are tastefully furnished, the beds have soft pillows and duck down duvets and the towels are fluffy! There is a cosy residents lounge with wood-burning stove and comfortable sofas to enjoy afternoon tea or a dram from a selection of fine single malts available. There is a television in the lounge. The restaurant (also with an open fire) serves lunch and dinner all year round (by prior arrangement during December, January and February) using local produce (with a focus on seafood and highland game, although catering to specific dietary requirements with prior notice). Fresh shellfish is available having been landed daily (weather permitting) by the fishermen who leave Elgol Harbour early every morning throughout the year. Iain prepares delicious food with close attention to detail and will cater to guests specific requests if at all possible. Clare makes fresh bread daily for guests to enjoy. Afternoon tea is also available for all residents of Coruisk House. Iain and Clare greet all their guests with a warm welcome and make sure that their stay is relaxing and enjoyable in a truly stunning location. ... more   less
