Best pub in the area for for a nice pint of ale. a nice log fire in the colder months could do with more staff as they seemed rushing about even on a quiet evening. food prices are far to high and So i wouldnt eat from there

This is a genuine husband & wife owned establishment with some of the nicest home cooked food and hand pulled real ales you could ask for. Residential aspect of business consists of nine beautifully kept rooms where you are guaranteed a great nights sleep. Fantastic semi rural location & beer garden. What's not to like?

I'm local, I've been to a few pubs in the area over the years and the White Hart at Charter Alley has all its potential taken from it by the most miserable landlord I have met. After a long country walk we were turned away today (a family of 6) because the landlord was to busy drinking with his local... More

Popped in at 3:30 after a walk with the family on a Saturday afternoon but we were rudely turned away. Apparently they were closed. However, the landlord and three others were sat with nearly full pints. After we walked out, the door was locked behind us. Poor attitude.

If you are looking for a traditional, rural country English pub with great beers and great food, this is the place. The landlord and landlady work hard to ensure all guests have the best possible experience and can't do enough to make sure you have a great stay. Great to see such a selection of good beer, and the chicken... More

We stayed here for a family get together and it was very enjoyable. We arrived early when the bar was shut but the owner opened up for us. The rooms were lovely, very comfortable and clean. The evening meal was excellent, everyone enjoyed them and breakfast was the same. Would recommend it, a pleasant stay in the country!

Stayed there recently with six other couples and had an extremely pleasant weekend. The rooms are all recently refurbished and are clean and fresh. We all enjoyed our evening meals and couldn't have wanted for more at breakfast. We had a friendly reception throughout our stay and really couldn't fault it, for us it fitted the bill and it is... I found this place on an on-line booking site when my normal choices in Basingstoke were booked. It is a bit out in the sticks and mobile coverage was patch but wifi was available. The room was very comfortable with good quality fixtures and fittings and I slept very well. I ate in the bar on two evenings and the... More

It may have fine beers, but that's about all this isolated pub has going for it. Since the recent departure of the most recent chef the food is perfunctory, the wine list uninspiring and vastly overpriced. Don't even look at the cutlery. The rooms have been fitted down to a (very low) cost and have hard beds and cheap fittings,... More

I have stayed here a couple of times before and needed to stay for one night again at the beginning of November. This is truly an isolated property which is really difficult to find in the dark of a November's evening. The rooms are delightful and spotlessly clean and comfortable. Free WiFi is provided and there is even a couple... More
