Beautiful location for this traditional country inn where there is a warm welcome and a good selection of beers and cider, Good menu of well cooked and presented food in a warm atmosphere, Wonderful log fires in the winter and freat outdoor areas for the warmer days.

We stayed 2 nights in December, 2014. Owners friendly and accommodating, and rooms are clean and comfortable. The meals were very good! Paula is quite the cook, would recommend at least one meal there!

I had dinner here recently after a heavy country shooting day. It made the curry taste great! Mine host was very affable and his staff helpful. A blazing fire completed the experience. My wife and I have stayed in the original rooms in the past which were OK, but were shown round both the refurbished version and the new ones... More

Off the beaten path, but an excellent and authentic experience. Lionel, Paula, and Warren were efficient, warm, and hospitable. The food was great. A worthy selection of ales. My family enjoyed our stay, and we would recommend the George and Dragon to others.

A less than enthusiastic respond to our booking should have warned me off. We went for Sunday lunch but serving stops at 2pm and they ran out of roast just before 2pm. Typical pub food, fish and chips, gammon, veg lasagne, steak and ale pie, curry. We had curry and the pie. Curry was good, pie was average. Although the... More

The last time we stayed in the area in March, we ate here 4 times. On each occasion the food was superb. This time the standard had dramatically slumped. The steaks were tough and tasteless, The lamb shank was moribund. We were in the area for two weeks, our visit was early in that time. We did not return, and it is... More

My partner and I were 'passing trade' for the second time in a year; we were smart and casually dressed but the greeting was very cool. The pub/hotel has obviously had a lot of money spent on it and is smart inside and out. The real ale was fine but not exceptional. The attitude of the man behind the bar... More

Very welcoming but lacked atmosphere during our visit. The a cheap option but food cook very well and very well served. Would go again with friends. Very good selection of beers available. Large car park.

Booked for an overnight stay and found the room to be cold and poorly furnished. One bedside lamp not working, no bath/shower mat and the whole feeling of the room is a characterless square box. View from the room is a scruffy courtyard with dumped old furniture. Reasonable breakfast but there must be better places.

Our monthly supper club ate here the day after "The Great Storm of 2013". 20 of us arrived to find that the pub was without electricity, the supply having been lost during the storm and then coming on and off all day prior to our arrival. Despite the difficult conditions we received a very warm welcome and an excellent supper... More
