From the moment that you drive up the domain, you will end up in another world! Although the history is long and impressive, the current owners have done their maximum to restore it in its former glory and MORE. The rooms are still traditional styled, but they have been updated to today's comfort(wifi, clean and modern bathroom, flatscreen,...) a truly... More

Fantastic chateau location. We wanted to visit the Verdun battlefields but stay in some luxury - it was perfect. Beautiful house and grounds - nice walk down to the Meuse. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant with a local menu. Very French!

Great location for an overnight stop on our journey from the UK to Switzerland. Easy to find just off the motorway. The chateau is amazing with real French character & charm. The restaurant food was excellent and not too expensive. The hotel staff were very friendly and made us most welcome. Why stay in a euro-box hotel when you can... More

We stayed in Chateau des Monthairons for two nights to visit Verdun and the associated battlefields. It is situated some miles to the south of Verdun on the River Meuse. It is easy to find and signposted from Exit 31 of the AutoRoute. We stayed in a standard room at the back (North facing) and over looking the farm. The... More

Fab place for an overnight on your way on the autoroute Paris to Germany. Just south of Verdun, which in itself is worth a stop. (WW1 memorials) Price is very reasonable for what you get. Chateau accommodations with a gourmet restaurant, which is excellent. You can order wine by the glass and the staff is very accommodating to your wishes.... More

Lots of attention has gone into the house which is beautifully presented and decorated. Our room was spacious and comfortable - and one of those places where the people made all the difference - attentive yet unobtrusive service. Our supper was first-rate. The grounds are extensive and there are signs of improvements being made, but perhaps a long way to... More

On our way to Germany, this was the perfect stop over, a beautiful manor house, with big rooms, very comfortable beds, and a sophisticated dining room with first class food. Two very small things could be corrected but they did not stop us having a great time there. First we arrived at 4pm after a non stop journey from England.... More

We stayed here because we were visiting the historic sites around Verdun, for which this is convenient. The building and its setting is very impressive. The building is mid 19thC and in its heyday would have been stunning. Around it are a chapel, and lovely old glass conservatory (now disused) and a massive walled kitchen garden. Many of the public... More

Our group of 25 was rebooked here after our original Verdun hotel went out of business! This is a large renovated country chateau of some 20 plus guest rooms on three floors above the main ground floor rooms. Rooms are renovated in the last 10 years and vary in size and amenities, but all bathrooms are comfortable and nicely updated,... More

Very convenient for a stopover en route to Switzerland, not far from Verdun. Not a "chocolate on the pillows" type of place, but an elegant chateau run in a rather old fashioned way with classic rooms and excellent food. Extremely dog friendly, with an extensive park for them to run off some pent up energy and they are allowed to... More
