My husband, myself and a friend have just returned from a two night stay at this wonderful hotel. We all loved the hotel and it's wonderful owners. The area is amazingly beautiful. The rooms were very comfortable and exceptionally clean. We were on half board so had breakfast and dinner. I think you would find it very difficult to find... More

Woody Bay is a very special place and The Woody Bay hotel is right at the centre of it. I have been taking my family there for 17 years. Your host Collette and Martin, your chef will make you feel at home the minute you climb the steps to the front door. The food is excellent and rooms are beautifully... More

The Hotel is perched in a tiny lane overlooking the spectacular Woody Bay on the north Devon coast. A Victorian villa now converted, after one or two re-inventions, into an eight room hotel. The present owners Collette & Martin Petch - have nurtured the hotel since 1991. The hotel is very comfortable - great eclectic library, deep sofas, huge beds... More

We returned to Woody Bay (our honeymoon hotel) to celebrate our Ruby anniversary, having been encouraged by reviews on tripadvisor. On arrival we were served coffee in the lounge next to a roaring log fire, surrounded by newspapers and books. Blissful! The restaurant is small but there was still a choice of 5 starters and 9 main courses. Every dish... More

We used to come here with our family some 20 years ago, the last time when Colette and Martin took over the hotel. We decided to return, with a friend of ours, and what a surprise! All rooms are tastefully decorated, with recently refurbished en-suites. As mentioned elsewhere, the outside needs a bit of TLC but that certainly is not... More

Set in the hillside, on a very very quiet road, overlooking Woody Bay - through the trees, we had a very warm welcome from the owners. It was the end of the season, so only 4 rooms being used. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms for me and my friends. Food was pre-ordered from an extensive menu but this was no problem... More

As others have noted, the exterior of this hotel could do with a little TLC, but don't let that fool you. Its definitely a place to come and relax. Great food. Another reviewer mentioned the library, I wished we had had more time to peruse it- an intellectual collection that put me in mind of university days.

This small hotel is set in a peaceful, secluded location. It is run by an experienced couple who concentrate on giving their visitors a personal service, comfort and good food. The hotel is very clean, nicely decorated and comfortably furnished. The bathrooms in two of the bedrooms we saw appear brand new. The beds are comfortable and linen crisp and... More

After many years my wife and I returned to the Woody Bay Hotel. Its secluded position with great views make it a good choice. Colette and Martin run a super hotel with all the personal touches. We were offered tea not only when we first arrived but whenever we returned in the afternoon after exploring wonderful Exmoor. Our room was... More

There is little to add to the excellent reviews except to say they reflect our experience. Thank you Colette and Martin for a wonderful couple of days at Woody Bay. Don't be deceived by the shabby chic exterior. The interior of this hotel is immaculately clean and very stylish without being overly self-conscious. We loved the amazing sea views, the... More
