The hotel is set amongst beautiful woodlands overlooking the Bristol Channel, with footpaths leading down to a small, secluded unspoilt cove. All the rooms and the dining room have spectacular views out over Woody Bay. Because of its location, there is no mobile signal - for us, a boon! Although the exterior of the hotel is looking a little tired,... More

We've just enjoyed two nights and The Woody Bay Hotel and we absolutely adored it. The building is [I think] late Victorian and although some of it's grandeur is a little faded the situation and view more than compensates. Speaking of the view, our room, in fact all of the bedrooms and public rooms look out over The Bristol Channel... More

We have been visiting 'The Woody Bay Hotel' on and off over the past forty-odd years; we have enjoyed each and every visit under all five different owners; we have seen the hotel diminish in size until now there are just four guest rooms, with half of the hotel now converted into apartments. The magic of this hotel, however, remains.... More

Whilst it's exciting to try new places, we can't help coming back to this hotel, several times a year , for the last twenty. It's changed a bit, but the views and the food, both equally sublime , keep drawing us back. It's a challenge to go back home!

We were welcomed by Martin and Collette our hosts as soon as we got out of our car. With an offer of tea on the verandah we were starting to relax at the start of a very pleasant 3 day stay. Our room offered a spectacular view of Woody Bay and beyond out into the Bristol Channel to South Wales.... More

The Woody Bay Hotel, run by the very welcoming Collette and Martin, is comfortable, beautifully located and offers a relaxing ambience. Terrific library to browse in and socialise with other guests; the meals were well presented and delicious. well worth considering for a quiet weekend with dozens of walks and excursions nearby.

My husband, myself and a friend have just returned from a two night stay at this wonderful hotel. We all loved the hotel and it's wonderful owners. The area is amazingly beautiful. The rooms were very comfortable and exceptionally clean. We were on half board so had breakfast and dinner. I think you would find it very difficult to find... More

Woody Bay is a very special place and The Woody Bay hotel is right at the centre of it. I have been taking my family there for 17 years. Your host Collette and Martin, your chef will make you feel at home the minute you climb the steps to the front door. The food is excellent and rooms are beautifully... More

The Hotel is perched in a tiny lane overlooking the spectacular Woody Bay on the north Devon coast. A Victorian villa now converted, after one or two re-inventions, into an eight room hotel. The present owners Collette & Martin Petch - have nurtured the hotel since 1991. The hotel is very comfortable - great eclectic library, deep sofas, huge beds... More

We returned to Woody Bay (our honeymoon hotel) to celebrate our Ruby anniversary, having been encouraged by reviews on tripadvisor. On arrival we were served coffee in the lounge next to a roaring log fire, surrounded by newspapers and books. Blissful! The restaurant is small but there was still a choice of 5 starters and 9 main courses. Every dish... More
