Our room (9) on the first floor was large with double bed, plus table with four chairs, useful for reading the plethora of brochures you pick up. Large window opening onto tree top. Big bathroom, very recently painted and spotlessly clean with shower over bath, and space to put everything. Brand new towels. Dinner was ok, and there were also... More

We had a room in the courtyard which was very clean, lovely comfortable bed and had plenty of space for cases, clothes etc. We ate in the hotel restaurant in the evenings and whilst it was not "gourmet " standard the food was fresh and well cooked. The staff were very efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.... More

Not sure what happened to Michael W on his stay in May!! We stayed in early June and our experience was the opposite of his. Lovely clean room with antique features, excellent friendly staff who speak English, great value food at night and a good breakfast with jam and marmalade in small glass pots together with meats and cheese. We... More

We were looking forward to our stay even though it was only for one night. It certainly looks the business on the photographs. We normally stay in B & B's but we had struggled to find a vacancy because of the bank holiday weekend. The room we were given was in an annexe which was not a problem. The room... More

Located less than a 10 minute drive from Chinon, and surrounded by vineyards and woods, this hotel is very secluded but is also central for getting around. It is one of these typical French hotels which can be described as "charming" when at its peak it would have been "grand". All the furniture is old but this does not detract... More

We have stayed many times in the same Hotel in Chinon but last time we were very disappointed so we looked elsewhere and found the Manoir Griaudiere, although outside the town we loved it,no problems parking and so peaceful The rooms are of a good size with a big comfortable bed and good wifi access the Manor and gardens are lovely... We stopped off here driving down to south west France. Rooms were spacious, well equipped and clean. The only problem was that our room overlooked the bicycle sheds used by a party of c25 cyclists, whenever we were in the bathroom there was no privacy since there were no curtains or frosted glass! Food was good in the courtyard restaurant.

Although we had a bit of trouble locating the hotel at first...follow the signs on the road to or from Chinon to "La Giraudiere", we found it to be a hidden treasure of authentic French country life in the Loire. Our room was perfect and had a lovely view of the courtyard. It was so quiet and rural. We enjoyed... More

This hotel was out of this world. The owners were extremely nice and the surroundings were paradise. There was a gorgeous bike path that went half way to town (about 3 km total) with many cows, horses, etc. I couldn't stop taking pictures. If you want to truly unwind and get away from even the (small) bustle of Chinon, I... More

La Giraudiere is a welcoming sight on the way down through France, a nice comfortable bed, friendly staff, peaceful location and a beautifully historic manor house, what better start can then there be to a holiday!!!! Remember no airs and graces, clean rooms, but tired. it would be good to see an update of the rooms, but to be honest... More
